Laying up

X40d. Need to leave it parked for a couple of months. Ok to disconnect battery? How do we open the boot without power? Cheers.

I would look into a battery tender: Battery Tender

Ditto the suggestions above...I would personally pick up a smart battery tender (one that will stop charging when your battery has been topped off...and not keep going until it is overcharged).

If you do disconnect the battery...only disconnect the negative battery terminal cable and wrap it so that if it does move...it won't come into direct contact with anything metal that could cause an issue.

And if you simply disconnect the negative battery cable...you can reopen the tail gate by supplying power to the dedicated jump start terminals in the engine bay. And if you need to lock the vehicle...you can unlock it manually using the key embedded in the remote fob and there should be a door lock cylinder on your driver's door handle. It's behind a little cover that you pop open with the metal keyblade in the remote fob.
