Issue with floor mat fasteners

On my drivers side, one of the velcro twist lock floor mat clips for the floor mats won't screw into place and is constantly loose - has anyone else had this problem and is there a simple solution?

I don't really want to pull the carpet up to have a look unless I have to, so was hoping this was a common fault with an easy fix.

Thanks!

Are you pushing them down with the right pressure before twisting them in place? There is a bit of finesse required there.

THIS - I know it sounds like a simple thing, but I had one fight me years ago and it turn out to be this. If you don't get them set just right before you twist - the push up between the other layers and just hang there. I did it a few times then accidently did it right and I felt it immediately.

I appear to have the same issue. I was never able to get a click. The clip just bounces back.

Ditto^^^

Are you using the flat head screw driver that’s in the tool bag? If not, use that to press downward on the Velcro lock in the little slot designed for it. I think the bayonet (on the bottom) should be pointing side-to side (aka driver side to passenger side) as you press the bayonet down through the carpet into the floor pan. Once pressed down through carpet into floor…then twist 90° clockwise to lock the piece into the floor pan. In case I’m wrong…turn the bayonet front to back prior to pushing down through carpet, then turn 90° clockwise to lock it into place.

It’s NOT the carpet that is securing the Velcro pad…the bayonet must fit down into the floor pan…so you need to put a little bit of downward pressure to get it to lock into place when you give it a twist.

Hmmm…I wonder if either forum member that had issues locking the Velcro anchors into the floor ever resolved the issue…neither reported back with success or failure.

My issue is the film on the back of the drivers side mat that the velcro adheres to has ripped apart. Yielding the velcro pretty much useless. My mat slides up and down. Drives me crazy. I guess my fat foot twists on it as i'm getting out of the vehicle causing the film to tear.

Is the material on the underside of your mats deteriorating? If not, find something that can adhere the matching Velcro patch to the back side of your floor mat(s) that will hold (glue/double-sided tape/etc). Or buy a replacement Velcro patch that will catch to the Velcro floor anchors. You can find them at Walmart or any fabric store (send in your wife/girlfriend/mom/daughter/son/etc) if you're not comfortable in a Joanne's Fabric store.

If the material on the underside of your mat is falling apart and is unstable, then nothing is going to hold the matching Velcro patch unless you can remove all the unstable backing that you could adhere the patch to.

{floor anchor attached to a replacment Velcro patch}

lol, good looking at. I'm gonna try the glue route.
