First off, sincere thanks to all the members who consistently provide positive feedback, loads of information, along with their personal experiences, in responding to the constant inflow of newbies to the forum. My approach to any new forum is to lurk and try not to disturb, read threads of interest and then go to the search feature to answer all those common questions that relate to any new car, truck. Price, performance etc. I do this so as not to take up bandwidth on topics the regular board members have responded to far too many times to count. I must of read 10 threads on that time old question; 3.5 or 50i? Why post it again? Growing up on big block chevelles and vettes, I come from the school of "never too much HP!"
I've registered today because I finally have questions, along with opinions to assist other newbies. Covered with snow in my driveway is a new to me 2015 X5 50i M-sport.
Here's the deal, after many months of looking and tire kicking:

New this car listed for $80,650. To order a 2017 version was $81,245


Final price out the door was $58,560, after talking themout of new black grilles!

Thanks! Was really searching for a SpaceGray, my top choice, closely followed by carbon black. Used is almost always a compromise, as are many choices in life.

The dealership was running a big weekend "Special", which sometimes helps pricing.
Had driven a very nice 2017 3.5 M Sport, MSRP @ $73.500, which went from $68.500 to $66k for a same day deal.

Really liked to way the 3.5 ran. Plenty of power, nice handling. When I saw the 50i CPO car with similar options I couldn't resist a test drive.

Horsepower won out over common sense! I'll get more smiles per mile every time that 4.4 twin turbo spools up!

My CA was great. After we agreed upon a price, I said the X5 would benefit from black grills. She stepped out for a few minutes, came back smiling, saying she got the grilles, to be installed!
