Searching for a used 2014 x5 5.0...advice needed..what to look out for
Hi all,
I am in the market for a used lower mile X5. Anything I should make sure to have in terms of options? Obviously M-sport is a must - but what kind of suspension options should I avoid? Any known issues to look out for? How about this car...seem like a good one to you? http://www.cooperbmw.com/auto/used-2...3-ok/15669839/ Thanks! As for suspension, there are two upgrades, the Adaptive Suspension or the much more expensive Dynamic Handling Package. This one has neither, but those are also fairly rare, especially DHP. This one looks nice! |

I have a '14 M-sport 5.0 and love it. I just hit 30k miles and have had zero issues. One of the known issues is that some of the V8's burn a little oil. I haven't seen any sign of this issue yet. Another is the iDrive knob can bind and be difficult to turn. Other than that, I don't know of any other issues. Mine has been a complete joy to own and drive. Make sure you get a CPO.

I just had mine replaced for the second time before going out of warranty. I wonder if its a cold weather issue? Since I keep my X5's for 10 years I'm not looking forward to having to pay for one of these things. Told the SA this seems to be an ongoing issue and should this need to be replaced again I'm expecting BMWNA to pick up the tab. Do you think I have a better chance of winning the Powerball should this issue pop up again?

Chris, good to see you on here.
I had a look at the X5 you posted above, and it's got some nice options: Nappa interior, multi-contour comfort seats, leather dashboard, LED headlights, M Sport, B&O, HUD and ceramic controls. Only thing it does not have, is the upgraded suspension. I had DHP on my E70 and although it was very nice, I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything now that I have an F15 with standard suspension. The OEM 21" wheels with MPSS tires makes it drive amazingly well. As far as CPO is concerned: if it's still under factory warranty, then just buy the Gold OEM warranty from BMW and you'll be covered. |

I would pass on it if it's not CPO'd. The only reason it wouldn't be CPO'd by a BMW dealer is if more than one panel has been repainted, or they have knowledge of some other repair. Do you homework on this one.

Not sure why M-sport is a must, but if you mean that's what you want, sure.
I would avoid the base suspension, either Adaptive M or the DHP.
