True. But it if the beemer stays longer in the repair shop than if you drive it - like mine did, it becomes a rather annoying problem, regardless of the length of the warranty included.

I wouldn't exactly go as far to call it often. Maybe enough that we read about it, people complain about it, and some will worry about it, but I don't think I've actually personally known anyone who's BMW N63 motor has gone and needed replacing, and certainly mine is running just fine.
