Grocery bag hook in rear cargo area...

So, what side is your flip out hook on in your trunk? My father and I picked up X5s on the 29th. Both are 2017s and they are pretty much the exact same specs.

In my X5 the hook is on the driver's side. In his the hook is on the passenger side right next to the power outlet. Strange that they aren't the same, but also makes me wonder why we only have one of those. I'd love to have a couple more.

Strange indeed. Are both models with the same engine and do both cars have the optional spare tire in the floor? That's the only logical thing that I would think could affect a different trunk panel arrangement. I've seen other BMW's in the past have something similar. Cars with fold down rear seats have a storage net in the trunk while cars without fold down didn't have it. Made no sense but i guess its bmw's way to save money.

Both are 5.0s with the MSport package. Neither of us have the spare tire in the floor. I looked at the build sheet for both cars and they are the exact same with only 1 difference. My father's has the Active Cruise Control and mine doesn't. Other than that, they are optioned out exactly the same.

But of course, everyone knows that the Active Cruise Control forces the grocery bag hook to be moved to the right side....

Willing to bet it comes down to the actual build dates of both vehicles. BMW must have made the switch over after your car was built.

Yeah, that was what popped into my mind. I'll run the VINs and see how far apart the production dates were.

Hook

After reading this post, just discovered I had one on the drivers side. Guess it pays to be a member the X5/X6 forum. My F15 is a June 2016 build car.

It folds away nicely so it won't snap off...this is news to me because without this thread I would've never realized this hook was there LOL

Consider me in the group of folks who also didn't know this was in my trunk.

I promptly decided to test it with some pesky plastic grocery bags full of stuff. It does its job.

Exactly! I just wish there was more than 1. I'd love to have 4.
