i'm OFFICIALLY hating this x5 version. it's like a longer version of x3 but bigger and uglier. the front is somewhat alright BUT too many opening...yuckkk. the side and rear view is horrible. X4 and X6 seems to be looking better and better.

The side profile SUCKS!!! I like the front (1st pic) but that "grille" below the kidneys is just out of place. The back looks like a base X3. Lets hope the M is more aggressive.

Totally agree. The hatch area, D pillar is all wrong.
It has lost the ball of muscle look. Traded the overgrown hot hatch for a homely van look! Best feature is the air vent on the front guard. They should have used the same styling for the 4 series instead of the tacked on boomerang they used instead. Interior looks decent but not uniquely X (a better 3 series perhaps). |

In my opinion, the design is half-assed. And that's probably because of the new X7 so that BMW makes the necessary space between the two models. That's why the new X5 doesn't look like some dramatically improved vehicle. It's bulky but not muscular like its predecessor and the lower right front "opening" which is actualy covered in some silly plastic is ridiculous. The rear end design is also half-assed and quite un-sporty. The interior is great though.
I'm waiting to see the X7, this is going to be a hell of a luxury SUV in my opinion - if though huge as a barge! |

I see much of the X3 on the rear and X1 on the side. Still looks awesome, ready to order one as soon as my BMW dealer calls. The production is supposed to start in August, but according to my dealer, all of the initial build spots are for the 35i.

2014 X5
Agree 100%. I was hoping to get this as our next SUV but this thing looks like ass. Maybe it'll look better in person. If not, I'll have to look for something else.

(Wrote this on another thread where these photos were posted about 2 weeks ago).
Darn - that does look good. Best version so far BUT .... - the rear still looks ugly (not as bad as the white version where the back looks too heavy at the bottom when looking at the more streamlined top section) - the rear lights look disjointed. The downward slant works on normal cars like 3 and 5 but not connected to the large side lights here. - I feel like tearing off those horrible fins at the back which ruin the silhouette because the back slant angle doesn't match the window slant anymore - the spacing between the bars on the kidney grille is too wide ( this is just minor though - sure it will seem normal soon). Same with lights connecting with the grille. No real reason - just change for change sake. Understandable to change it up a bit. The more vertical grill does give it "status"/more expensive feel but it comes at the expense of a flatter bonnet which looks good from the side giving it a more streamlined look but on other angles doesn't look as natural as the current shape. - the streamlined look almost goes too far making it look almost like a normal station wagon / estate. Basically - this colour combo is great - but it's doing a good job of making a pig look better. The e70 looked great from the start. Strangely this version from some angles doesn't look too different from mine but when you look a bit closer it still seems a bit off in places. Kind of ok but you know something's not right. My views might change once I see it on the street but I will be seriously checking out what Porsche and Mercedes have in 2/3 years. |

No, the F25 is so E70ish.
Seriously, the E32 and the F15 really needs the M make over, deliberate from BMW?
