Sorry to hear that man. Here is the guy I used for a DV report. Just be aware you will have to constantly stay on top of your insurance company. It took me 4 months and going through arbitration before they cut me a check close to the market DV.

Sucks that happened, but at least its getting sorted out.

I like the system in Canada ( Ontario at least) your own insurance company pays out for all repairs then they internally deal with other company. It doesn't matter if they are insured or not, your car will be fixed.

Happy for you in that the car is being fixed but the thread reads like a nightmare from hell.

In the UK insurance is a legal requirement (there's still those crettins who don't have it obviously) and the business of getting a vehicle repaired is pretty straightforward.

Driving without insurance in the UK – the consequences

A £300 fixed penalty and 6 points on your licence (12points and you lose your licence)
A £20–per day storage charge and a £150 collection fee to recover your car
A crushed car if it’s not reclaimed within 14 days
Risk of losing your car if it’s seized by the police
PLUS: you’ll need valid insurance to get your car back

None of which helps your case, just thot I would post for comparison.

In Canada, minimum fine for no insurance starts at 5000.00 and up to 25000.00 for first offence. If caught twice it is minimum 10000.00 up to 50000.00.
If that doesn't scare someone into getting insurance, I don't know what will.

Thanks everyone.

Each day that passes gets me one step closer to getting the car back.

It appears we let the uninsured here in the United States off quite easily, although this is enforced by each individual state.

One of the police officers told me that they used to arrest offenders on the spot, but they can't do that anymore. Now practically just a slap on the wrist.

It's a bad problem that continues to spin out of control.

At the very least with the accident I was involved in, no one was injured.

I told the uninsured guy that he could have really hurt, or potentially killed someone. He didn't seem to care (I was concerned for the middle driver initially as she was dazed from what had happened).

Yeah that is fortunate that no one was hurt.
Unfortunately, some people just don't seem to care, Nor do they care about the impact their actions could have. Hopefully this is a wake up call for that driver.

It's crazy out here in TX. Ironically, they probably stopped arresting out here because of how common it is. Would probably become too much of a load to process given the volume of uninsured drivers out here.

When I used to live in NJ, they did arrest and impound from what I remembered.

Houston has some really bad drivers so I'm glad your safe and are in the process of getting everything fixed with OEM parts

I have Progressive on the Range Rover and State Farm for my X5.

That said, last week on Friday they finally approved the OEM glass. Took them long enough. At least it's $0 deductible.

From what I've heard, Progressive outsources all their glass billing and handling to Safelite... you can see why they don't want to pay for OEM glass especially when you don't use their facilities.

Woohoo!

Fairly speedy fix. I can't complain about the repairs!

Two weeks.

Here are a couple of photos - since I didn't even take pictures of the X5 before the crash!

I am looking forward to actually driving it now.

Congrats on the quick turnaround!

Thanks, folks!

Glad to have it back.

Of course I drove it to work just as cautious as when we brought our son home from the hospital after birth some 13 years ago!

I'm a bit concerned about keeping the white seats clean, but my "adobe" (light tan) seats in my F150 were nearly as clean the last day I had the truck as the first day.

I've got to figure out the navigation map for traffic. I don't see where it really indicates heavy traffic on the freeways here in Houston unless you really zoom in and look at the little arrows.

Told'ya! Was it really worth all that "depression"? Although i can admit i used to be like that, however a long time ago i realized that time i spend being "depressed" over irrelevant staff is time i will never recover, and dearly miss afterward. Now instead of saying " how bad and depressing it is", i say to myself "oh, it gets interesting!"
Sorry, if i offended you, or anyone earlier)))
PS. Your truck and color combo looks gorgeous, i have the same interior and rims, except my truck is black. )))

You didn't offend me in the least - and actually snapped me back to reality in that these things are just things.

We care for them, but in he end it's just stuff.

I appreciate your words, kindness and encouragement!

Any tips on cleaning those seats?

LOL, i try not to get them dirty))
Soapy warm water combined with steam cleaner does a great job for me, and afterward good leather conditioner. I like Griots garage brand! Best of luck, bud!
