All this is true but the stock coils should be good for around 100k so its not really necessary but go for it if you want.

I definitely agree with you that for Stage 2 (and probably for Stage 1 too) stock plugs and stock gap is not going to cut it. Issues will appear. Just matter of time. I was fine with stock plugs on Stage 1 until 1 day I was not lol. I bought 97506 this time and am planning to swap them and gap them down. Just need to find time.

Please keep us posted with your tune and any dyno, runs or other info you'll get.
I know this is many moons ago that you guys put the NGK 97506's in but do you remember what you gapped them at? I've read that these should be gapped a little different than the OEM ones but haven't seen much bout it. Also, how did they work out for you?

I believe many gap at 20-22 thousandths.

Yea it seems like the range goes up to 0.024 so I guess I'll go with 0.023 and split the difference. My gapper is a from amazon (China) so it's probably not that accurate anyway

They can last a 100k if you never get into boost or drive slow most of the time 😂

I gapped mine at 0.0024", bm3 stage 1 93 octane too. The engine runs very smooth. Tighter gap will create rougher idle.

I'm still on stock coils with BM3 and my shit runs like a dream. 65kish miles, maybe 20kish on the tune. I don't dog it out all the time but I still have fun with it.

Consider yourself one of the few lucky ones , as these cars kill ignition coils most likely from the extreme demand of boosted vehicles and the under hood heat also doesn’t help.

Found the X5m plugs for $6.54 each here’s the link:

https://www.rmeuropean.com/Products/12120039634-MFG14.aspx

Found X5m filters for $20 each at auto-zone via the pet numbers in this forum here’s the link:

https://www.autozone.com/external-engine/air-filter/stp-air-filter-sa90212/374407_0_0

Any issues with these parts? Also still looking for coils is anyone has a good place to find them.

Is there any drawback to using 1 step colder plugs such as the NGKs on the stock N63TU?

This the the concerning paragraph I've found:

Quote:
"There are two rules that most people tend to go by when deciding on which spark plugs to buy:

The first rule of thumb is that with every 100 horsepower added, you should run spark plugs that are a step colder than your stock plugs. This is generally accepted across the motorsports community but unfortunately isn't always the most accurate measurement of when you will need colder plugs.
The second rule is to go a step colder any time you massively alter cylinder temperatures by adding forced induction to an NA engine, by increasing compression ratio, after altering timing in a major way, or by changing fuel types to something with a higher octane rating such as racing fuel.
Adding spark plugs that are a step colder outside of these conditions, with no real change to the engine, can actually hurt more than help by leading to spark plugs fouling quicker than normal and by making the car harder to start in cold weather conditions. "

If that is true, then putting colder plugs in a modded engine but not racing around town often would cause issues too. I have a step colder plugs in my stock n63 but I do plan on adding more power soon.

That may well be. Curious to know, for how long have you been running the colder plugs on yours?

I have a n63tu2 with bm3 stage 2 tune with downpipes. I have stock plugs and coils with 10k on them.. i am planning on changing the plugs to either x5m or the ngk 97506.. which one should I go with and with what gap? The reason to consider to change spark plugs is i am getting stutters at very low speed from get go on acceleration.

Did you ever get the part number for this tube?

Ya it should be in my DIY. There is 2 pieces too. I think this post was referring to the smaller one though. Do you want both or just that one?
