X5M wheel vent retrofit?

I think this is doubtful, but any chance of retrofitting the chrome side vents on a non-M X5?

Haven't seen the part stand alone yet but it most likely will be able to install on our rigs. I just hope nobody will run the X5///M badges but will make some custom badges for them if this mod is something they're thinking to do.

It does say X5 M, but that might be a separate part or removable.

It's pretty obvious it's not an M without all the other parts...bumpers, wheels...engine.

Yup it's a little bubble sticker

But the things I've seen M stickers on is absurd lol most people can't tell the difference even if you were to put it on a luxury line haha

Right. It's been said on here before. For those that it would matter to know its not real. Those that wouldn't know, don't even know what it is.

Anyway. I like the look of the chrome. I think some of the new non-M X6s have something similar.

Maybe someone will figure out a part number. It would be great if it can pop right in. I have a carbon black and it would stand out.

Check Aliexpress. I have seen them there, along with lots of other chrome trim pieces such those for interior AC vents, light switch perimeter, gear selector permitter, rear hatch foldout, vents, microphone trim, fog light permitter, etc. http://www.aliexpress.com/wholesale?...BMW+F15+chrome

It's not possible. The side panel pieces are completely different part numbers. The openings are slightly larger to accommodate the grille's heightened aerodynamic function, the actual size of the piece, plus the retaining clips.

It's similar to the trim on the M50d front bumper. The bumper has inserts for the piece to clip in to, in addition to the locking rings.

Nothing is impossible in this life... or almost nothing

Kaboom. Note that the page is in Russian, but it doesn't matter - it shows the M side-vents installed on a 30d

Why would you do that??? Most ///M owners are trying to cover or remove the ugly chrome.
I think the subtle look of the standard X5 looks much better than the ///M.

I don't know why and it's generally not my right to judge what others do to their cars (my personal opinion is that there's to much ///Marketing around these days and excessive number of ///M even on a simple M-Sport package car)

However this thread is about whether this can be done and I think those linked photos answer that well

wdimagineer is correct. The picture shown was modified in this way: "Gills from x5m fit Enlarge but need to cut the rear fasteners. Photo by car later. Caption x5m vypuklaya.esli little paint you will need to remove it zashkurit.prosto not work.
Kadr thank Enlarge everyone in the best possible way." That's using google translate.

Here are the part numbers: 51712354930, 51712354931

Here are pictures of the modification. I assume they were glued/adhered on using some sort of 3M double sided tape since he said he had to "remove paint." Maybe he had to sand the car's body down a little to allow surface adhesion? Who knows ?

Looks tacky to me . M symbols have their limit to an extent, but the actual X5M on an F15...just doesn't work, sorry. Just my two cents...don't hate .

Thanks everyone. Correct. I mainly wanted to see if this could be done. But, Like I said. I do like the way the chrome looks. Nothing really to do with an M.

It doesn't look like it can be done the way I would want. So it's a no go.

But....if an X5M'er is removing theirs, I'll certainly accept them.

These don't look as nice as the X5M gills, but these are an option if you just want chrome gills: http://ru.aliexpress.com/item/Chrome...054862723.html

I had a chance to look at the new X5M at the Vancouver car show yesterday and saw those chrome ///M vents...truth be told, I think it doesn't look that great. I think that ours looks much better/cleaner without these tacky chrome pieces. Of course it's all personal preference.

Thanks. Perhaps I would feel the same way after seeing them in person.

I'm actually surprised they went with chrome vs gloss black for an ///M piece.
Personally, first thing I'd do is pull the vents and paint them black.

Hello,

We've got in our offer Wheel Vent Cover for F15. Orginal BMW product.

Carbon, Silver or for special order in other colors. It's not from F85.

Easy to montage. Contact us at: bmw.m-life@biznespoczta.pl or by PM on forum.

Sorry for ads in here, but I saw that you are tryinf to fit Vents form F85 in to F15. Why bother like that if we've got orginaly made for this model product.

Exactly, but it coud be placed on regular X5. Only think is, that stripes on the rear bumper dose not fit.

X5M badges on a non-X5M... [face palm] ...but, to each their own. To me, this ranks up there with Honda guys putting VTEC decals on their Civics.
