I believe so. The price range would be somewhere close to the Dinan though.

Probably yes, but it's always better to contact them directly to find out the exact data.

ACS gives a standard 2Y warranty, however you can throw another 3xx EUR in for an extended 3Y one.

As for exhaust note - just forget about opening windows and accelerating while at it, forget it forever. "Enjoy" the artificial sound for the speakers in Sport mode I talked about the possible sound enhancements with ACS as we'll - they said BMW limited their options with this engine, it'll never sound good (if you know what I mean) or anywhere near to the nice sound of Porsche V8 diesel... And that's the only reason I still can't get M6 out of my head, because other than the sound the M50d is great. But the petrol head inside me wants some grrrrrrr

Armen383 , any updates on life with the ACS upgrade installed? Fuel consumption, problems, etc?

Also, hows the 9H holding up?

Looking forward to your feedback!

Thanks!

Whats the economy like now the car is well run-in?.

Many piggy back tunes here in the UK, TDI Tuning are supposed to do a good one for this car.

1) ACS tune is doing just fine, no problems whatsoever (touch wood). Fuel consumption: normal driving would be around 11.7 to 12.4 liters per 100 km.
2) Ceramic Pro 9H is definitely worth the money in my eyes. The hydrophobic layer is obviously almost gone by now on windows and little of it left on the paint (it's presence is still noticeable though), however the main 6 layers of the actual ceramics seems to do their job. I'm in for a visit to the detailer once it stops raining like hell in here (cyclones); need to refresh it a bit earlier then prescribed (i.e. 8-9 months instead of 12). I'm guessing reapplication of 1 layer (or 2 max) + hydrophobic one will do the job for another 8-9 months easily.

Economy wise: 11.7 to 12.4 liters per 100 km in normal driving mode; if I go aggressive (sport(+)) - sky's the limit - it goes way, way past 20

As for the piggy backs - I think I already explained it somewhere in the posts above - when I was choosing one I wanted a package deal: good customer support (incl. sales), warranty, well-known name w/o big stains on it, etc. ACS gave me that satisfaction as a customer, although their prices are indeed steep (no one cancelled the brand surcharge ).

Many thanks for the info.
PS) your normal driving is returning less than my M6 GC CP, I get 25MPG normal driving with some boot downs.

Diesel... fuel economy.... riiiiight Funny thing is that fuel economy pretty much haven't changed with ACS, it might have even dropped down a bit compared to factory state.

Were I live you need to be a bit careful how much power you use , lots of speed traps/cameras around.
Nice to see the Tune has kept MPG down a bit , must be a good fuelling map.

Thanks for the feedback, sounds really tempting tbh... Whats the deal with the factory BMW warrant give you have installed the ACS? What does the ACS cover actually?

I feel you. Got 8/12 points on my drivers license, all of them for speeding on the highway. Funny thing is, that when you say: "Officer, how fair is it to go 100 km/h on a road when there's 1 car for a 1000 meters both ways from you, the road is dead straight with no potholes/etc?!" - they will always reply: "Of course it's not fair". And then issue a ticket... or not if you stumble across what I call a good guy

P.S. They're about to start installing cameras here island-wide as well, so the only remaining option would be the mountains in the morning and/or the only racing track we have here (about to test it this spring). Oh, and BMW driving experience of course - need to fit BMW M FASCINATION NORDSCHLEIFE in my summer schedule somehow...

One question: Do you have the Adaptive suspension fitted?
If so does it hold the car down round tight bends. Thanks John

Well, I'd rather not go into details of how things work with the local BMW dealership, but let's say I'm more or less covered... However in general, don't expect any love from BMW towards ACS. They even went to court once to completely separate their ways (AFAIK ACS used to be offered/sold in BMW showrooms, but that was a long time ago, before the obsession with the ///MMMMMMMM/etc.). As for the ACS cover - I think it's best you read it yourself on their website: standard one and extended one.

No, I remember I looked at this picture and couldn't justify the cost of the 3k something EUR cost of the 7SZ option for myself. Strong believer that even X5M/X6M are not meant to be tracked and the Adaptive M Suspension (2VF) is all you'll ever need in an SUV. However, if you have that extra $, just go for it... It's the same as HK vs. B&O debate really. Is it worth it, are you better off with aftermarket, etc. I always say: if you have the $, just go for the top-spec stuff, very simple.

Many thanks, I will look at Dynamic Handling Pack.

Late goodbye...

I thought I'd share the end to my love story with the Black Beauty with fellow forum members.

Parenthesis: about 60 km/h speed, Euro NCAP style crash directly perpendicular into the wall. Serving as a wall - E90. I was lucky that this egghead was: a) driving a German car and not some Korean/etc. plastic bit; b) fastened; c) going blindly from one secondary road to another so that his passenger side was the impact side. I was generally lucky to keep both my eyes (think twice of driving in glasses, even sun glasses).

Result: M50d ACS is a total loss after three independent evaluations, E90 (accident culprit) obviously went straight under the press. F15 gets a strong 5 from me for safety; E90 - probably not so much vs. a big car (but still good, as the guy didn't have any life threatening injuries)

P.S. All-in-all I'm even happy that the Black Beauty is gone, even in such a way. I had so many problems and f*ck-ups (from something constantly not working to various squeaks/annoying noises/etc.) with it for the past year (since day-1 of ownership actually), I was willing to sell it. Guess someone up there made a bit more radical decision Besides, I realized that as much as I love the M50d's engine as a technological masterpiece, I hate the diesel sound in general.
P.P.S. So that's it for me with diesels in general and BMW's in particular - at least for the moment. Switched to 5.5l AMG petrol monster that puts a huge grin on my face every second - from the moment I wake up my wife when I cold start-it to the slightest acceleration. But that's a story for another time...

Wow, looks like quite the impact. I see the ambulance in the background. Anyone seriously hurt? Sorry to hear the X5 did not work out for you. Which Mercedes did you end up buying as a replacement?

Luckily no one was seriously hurt. The ambulance was for the other car driver - he had some injuries to his hand I believe. His passenger though just ran off (with some things from the car) although he had smashed rear side window with his head by the looks of it - something shady was going there... Anyway, I consider myself lucky as stated above - the guy was fastened. Most locals enjoy Darwin style life - drive w/o seat-belts with their hand hanging from the window (and a mobile in the other + kid jumping in the back sometimes).

As for the replacement - it's the latest Merc E63s (RWD ver with 585 hp / 800 tq).
