Thoughts on 2018 Demo Price
Greetings,
I am working on a price on a left-over 2018 X5 Lux w/20" Wheels, pretty well-equipped. It has been a dealer loaner. It has approx. 4,900 miles on it. The MSRP is around $67K. They are priced at $58k and firm. Their lease price is ridiculously high as well at $900 per month. This seems too high for an old body style and 5k miles on it. I would be interested in thoughts from those who have recently purchased/leased. Thanks. MSRP is $67k, subtract about 12% to get the selling price so the price for new is $67k x(100%-12%)=$59k. Then subtract millage cost 4,900 miles x cost per mile for over the lease limit (you can ask dealer for this), then subtract the $59k further for depreciation since the car was put into service. You will get the final number around $40k+, bring this calculation to the dealer and negotiate. Good luck

Yeah thats garbage, you can get $9k or more off a brand new one with discounts and incentives. It needs to be $52k max for it to be worth it. How long has it been a loaner therefore how many months of warranty are gone?

I’ll give you some perspective. The offered discount is comparable to what I received back in February, 2018. And mine was bought new.
You can, and should be able to do better. If they won’t budge, take your business elsewhere. There are several dealers still with F15 brand-new (non-loaner or demo) inventory. Although you may ultimately need to compromise on color/options, could be worth your while to travel to an out-of-state dealer and drive back. Just an idea. |

I could be wrong, but my understanding is that you can get better deals on new cars than almost new loaners because new cars have better sales support from BMW. The other interesting thing I found out was that demand for 2018 X5s when UP (at least in my area) when 2019s came out because everybody comes in thinking they are going to get the old model for super cheap.

Thank you for the replies.
I couldn't agree more with everyone's remarks. A demo vehicle is typically a rounder, and especially one with nearly 5,000 miles on it. It took me three times to speak with a salesman / manager that actually spoke English (or some form of it) at the dealer -- Jackie Cooper in Oklahoma. I found a brand new left over 2018 at another dealer, with more options, that windows for just over $70k and the dealer is below $60k right now. If dealers won't deal on their new old stock, I'll just bite the bullet and buy the new body 2019.

If you prefer the F15 vs. G05, I would continue to call/look around. People are posting with recent deals received, and expect with a bit of leg work (and patience) may be able to score a sweet deal of your own.

Don’t just limit yourself to a local dealer. Call a bunch of dealer somewhere further. For example in Bay Area (CA) there are many rich startup people so you have a lot of very well optioned dealer stocks. I called I think a dozen so dealers to get what I wanted.

These demos are never a good buy. People think the discount and the low mileage is a bargain. Like someone pointed out, an ideal buy would be around $45k.
