Simple Poll
Hey guys and gals. Just out of curiosity:
1) How many are leasing vs. buying? 2) If leasing, your first? 3) If not your first lease, how much were you charged for excess wear and tear? Thanks! Z. |

1) Lease
2) 8th lease (5th BMW lease) 3) only thing I've ever been charged for beyond the disposition fee were extra mileage, and some scrapes my wife put on an X5, think it was $700 because bumper needed to be replaced. Last edited by chrisny; 12-03-2013 at 09:06 PM.. |

1. Lease
2. 7 leases (5 BMW leases) 3. Never charged anything - then again, I've always "sold" the car and upgraded before the lease ended. I've usually found there to be equity in the car that way, so haven't needed to "turn it in" and pay the fees. |

1 - lease (owner's choice here in Chicago)
2 - 4th lease (1st BMW) 3 - always traded in early so never paid a penalty other than a bit of negative equity due to my impatience to live out a lease

When I finally get to place my order (I'm going for the 35d), I will be leasing, and it will be I think the 11th time I have leased over the years (previously 5 Mercedes, 2 Range Rovers, 1 Audi, and 2 BMW's). Knock on wood, I have never been charged for excess wear and tear. I always go for the three year, 15,000 miles per yea dealr; have come within a few hundred miles of going over, but (also knock on wood) , have not gone over so far.

1) Lease
2) 4th X5 in 7 years 3) Never paid a penny for returning the car. On the last one tough I had to replace all 4 tires 2 months before returning the car. My first car with Bridgestone and they were terrible and not safe for my wife to drive anymore. |

2) I've leased many times in the past, but since I can't write off the lease as a business expense, it isn't a significantly better deal than buying for me. I like the freedom of being able to sell or hold on to the vehicle as long as I like without being locked in to the rigid lease time frame. 3) I can't remember ever paying for excess wear and tear, but like most people on this forum, I take pretty good care of my cars. I'm sure that if you decide to lease another BMW, most if not all of the small wear and tear items will magically disappear. If you don't lease or buy another BMW, the dealer has no reason to let you off the hook. Kind of like the "Disposition Fee" at lease end. If you re-lease, the fee is waived. If you want another brand of car, you will have to pay the fee. |

- Lease.
- My personal rule: Lease all new cars; buy all used cars. - Can't remember how many leases I've done.
