Mirror Tilt on Reverse

Guys,

My left mirror stopped tilting on reverse. Also it seems the right one will tilt only if the mirror selection position button is set to right.
Any help is appreciated.

Thank you

That's interesting, mine only has right mirror tilt function. It also will only tilt when button is pushed to the right.
Sounds like perhaps a motor went out, or possibly a bad connection.

That's normal, as per the owner's manual...

I think you are mistaking, only the right mirror will tilt when in reverse. Never seen a BMW that can tilt the left (by itself when in reverse that is).
For it to work you will need to select the left mirror and leave the button in left position. Once you place it in the right position this function will not work, as the car "thinks" you want to adjust it manually at that time.

You can also find this in the Owners Manual as mentioned by CatalinP

Though I was 100% sure both mirror were tilting.. but the button thing is misbehaving. Once in right once on left.

Probably just a mistake and the left mirror never tilts. If your on a RHD vehicle it will tilt the left mirror. But all the BMW's I've driven never tilted the left mirror.

New or used? Only ask because I think you can code for the left mirror to go down on other cars, not sure of the f15 though - but check and see if its on the European specs. Typical behavior on American sold cars is that only the right mirror tilts down when in reverse to help you avoid curbing the rims. The mirror control switch usually needs to be in the center or to the left as in the case with BMWs.

Correct! My E46 M3 was the same way. The right mirror tilting down is to help with parallel parking.

Left mirror only tilts, if your model is right hand drive.
Right mirror only tilts, if your model is left hand drive.
(And of course; if your model supports MIRROR TILTING and the button is in correct position re tilting while reversing)
