Unique Auto site says it is not compatible with my 2016 X5:
This will not fit CIC widescreen nav units (used up to late 2012) nor will it fit NBT EVO units (usually from 07/2015) If you are unsure please contact us with your VIN number and we can advise

$369 is a good price without the GB. Mav, do you have the RSE option on yours? If so, Unichip won't work.

GB = group buy. And since you don't have rear seat ent., you'll have no problems with the installation. And if you were to round up 10 buyers, you can get it as low as $285 a piece.

So with RSE none of these after market boxes will work to get carplay? Only option is to replace id4 with id6? Anyone done that with the F15?

I think I read somewhere someone did the swap. I think bimmertech or someone like that had the kit. Few $1000 I believe.

I have done NBT->evo id6 conversion so here is the deal: it can cost anywhere from $800-$2000 depending on what you want. At the very least, you will need a HU, wifi antenna and a gps emulator. For the full conversion you will need ATM, CID high and some wiring.

Also there was a group buy last month on the F30 forum for unichip. Just FYI.

After seeing these results, I think I would interested, but I would want wireless CarPlay. I don't like plugging stuff into my car which is why I rarely charge my phone in the car.
