My BMW X0.5 //M Build
Well my son is turning a year old in a little over a month so I decided to get him (aka me) a little present!
Below is my son's BMW X0.5 //M Build! I always wanted a PowerWheel when I was younger so I'm going to relive my youth that I never had through my son. The car is one of those eBay ones and was completely Fast & Furious'd out with LED lights and chrome pieces all over. I spent the last couple of nights slowly tearing it apart to de-chrome and de-rice it to have it match our X5's Panda theme. I already went back and traced almost all of the LED wires in the car and will either just keep them unplugged or add a switch down the road. This is what it's supposed to look like in all of it's blinged out glory: Starting to take apart the chrome bits: Took apart the wheels to modify them to look more like the OEM 612 wheels: Test fitting the wheels back and also removed the window inserts from the doors. I'll be picking up some plastic spray paint this weekend to paint the chrome pieces black and will hopefully put it all together this weekend. Some carbon fiber vinyl wrap and some BMW decals are on their way to replace the "BSD" emblems. LOL Now I just need to figure out how to lower one these things! |

You bought an X5 for your wife .... now this for your son ...... What are you saving up for yourself? an X5M?
Love the mini X5. A can of plastidip should cover all the bling! |

The plan is at least to take him to a couple of car meets/shows in the future to check out the car culture and drive him around in this thing (it comes with a remote control to use until he's old enough to drive it on his own) And speaking of modding, I guess you can amp up the power on PowerWheels by wiring additional batteries in series! |

Here is the progress from this weekend's paint party. I took all the chrome bits that I wanted to turn black and scuffed down the shiny chrome paint with some fine steel wool so that the Krylon Fusion plastic spray paint would have something better to stick to.
I went with the plastic spray as opposed to plastip on these main pieces because I feel that this is going to be a lot more durable and won't peel off as easily. The wheels, upper grill, fender vents, mirrors, and headliwere sprayed several coats of Fusion spray paint. For the upper grill, there was this blue insert that would light up because of the LEDs that were installed back there. To contrast the shiny grill and the background insert, I actually painted this one with plastidip since it was the only flat black paint I had around the house. If I used the same shiny Krylon paint on the insert, it would have made the upper grill look like just one large blob as opposed to an actual vent. For the wheels, I removed the reflector insert, reinstalled the LEDs on the base of the wheel, and then popped on the 612 style wheel covers back on. The LEDs look super cheesy when they come on so they'll be left disconnected, but they would leave a crazy light trail at night if I ever did a night shoot. LOL For the headlights, I decided to see what my vision for a modified set of real headlights would sort of look like. I always wanted to cover up the chrome on the upper/signal light section of the X5 headlights to darken up the headlights so I experimented with the X0.5M. I masked off the headlight, sprayed, then modified the LED lights that were originally behind the grill and hot glued them in the low beams for the headlight LOL. The halo/DRL already come on with LEDs but the there wasn't an actual light in the middle so I figured this would be a good use for one of the LEDs that was going to be cut anyways. Here is what the front bumper cover looks like now with the newly painted pieces. And that's pretty much it for now! I'm waiting on some CF vinyl wrap and will see if I can learn how to wrap viny next. |

LMAO!!! This thread needs to be frontpage or something! An amazing build. I would do the same. The ICE/RICE/Chrome would be my deterrent from buying it. No self-respecting X5 owner would let his kid ride in a hoopty outfitted for a rap video.

This photo tho!! Had me cracking up. Looks like many teardown builds on the forums, with the car on stands and hood popped with plastic on seats...lol!

Looking incredible.
So are you sticking with the yellow fog lights or going color match the headlights? Or did you black those out already?
