I am a previous owner of a 2017 X5M. I recently traded it in on an M240i. The 240i is my wife's daily as the X5M previously was. I traded to reduce maintenance costs and my local dealer was interested enough in buying the lease out that is made sense. Now that some of the back story is out of the way I will get to the meat of my post.
My current daily and work vehicle is a 2017 Infiniti QX60. I am a sales rep and account manager so I get a car allowance, fuel and all maintenance is covered. I simply hate driving the QX60 and I am sure it is due to owning an M and having an M240i (this little car is sporty!). I have a local large used dealer that is very reputable that has a 2017 50i with only 6,175 miles on it. I am thinking it may be the perfect daily driver for me. I don't expect it to be an X5M but it should be a performer and satisfy my need for a sporty ride. I think I can get it approved as a company vehicle but I will get questioned about the maintenance. Can any of you tell me what the regular maintenance cost will be on average? I am also unsure of the 2017's maintenance coverage would be transferable? I would think there is warranty left but how much? Mileage is low but what are the year (48mo)? How do I find out when the warranty started before I purchase? I pulled the specs based on VIN and will post the pics below. What is it missing besides M Sport package? What concerns would you all have with this purchase? Thanks in advance for any comments. |

Like my friend here with the time machine said maintenance can be transferred for a 100$ but your dealer will insist it's 700-750$ same thing happened to me until I showed them my friend's invoice which he got for 100$

Hopefully OP's warranty is longer than 2001 but correct since you have low mileage your factory warranty would expire after the 48 month period if it's a bmw dealer they can tell you with a key read.

Thanks all.
Besides M Sport package what is this car missing? The dealer wants $49,000 for it. Seems like a fair deal to me. Thoughts? Wish it had paddle shifters, can a steering wheel swap be made and the paddles work? |

Make sure you give it a thorough test drive. Mine came with comfort suspension and I found it too compliant for my tastes after my E70 w/ sport suspension. I ended up swapping in KW V3 and 21” wheels to firm it up. After an X5M I suspect you might feel the same.
But add KW and a BM3 tune and you’ll be pretty close to the X5M again....
