Where are the Blind Spot Monitoring sensors mounted?

Just trying to figure out where the sensors in the rear are mounted for the BSM. Do they mount on the body of the vehicle or on the bumper itself?

Maybe it isn't the BSM but the lane keep assist sensors. Whichever is located in the rear on the corners is what I'm looking for.

Not attached to the bumper cover. Attached to the special plastic holders, which are attached to the body.

Perfect! Thanks!
So I'm guessing to get to them I need to pop my bumper off.

It is right behind the rear bumper, below the tail light.
Rear bumper removal is required to access it.

Well, it looks like a fun project, but you will need a new base for the mirrors with warning triangles and a steering wheel with vibration, in addition to the sensors and ECU.

I'm not going with lane keep assist, just want something for blind spot, especially at night, with the tinted backs and window sunshade always up it's hard to see sometimes.

But the way blind spot system informs you about the car in the blind spot is warning triangles in the mirrors and vibration of the steering wheel ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

And actually you don’t need them for the lane keep assist

The system I got has the two sensors for the rear, and two lights you can mount on the door pillar, or wherever you want really and it has a speaker that beeps.

No I don't think I could justify the cost for that retrofit. I do wish I had the mirror shell with the triangles but haven't seen any for sale. Appreciate your help

Why not just get the aspherical mirrors? The stock BMW mirrors that the rest of the world uses. Can get a set for $150 on ebay... They are fantastic.
