ECE taillights were a retrofit. Unfortunately they're not working properly due to wiring differences between US and RoW vehicles. I have the wiring diagrams and will be fixing this soon.

This is the first time in recent memory I've seen market-specific lamp wiring differences in a BMW. My E9x and F10 cars were simply plug and play - no coding required at all, even to enable rear fogs.
Please tell me more about the headlights. LED European spec? Factory override also? Do they require additional coding? If so, who performs this?
Thanks. Love to see the X5. I'm just 2.5 hrs south of you.

They have a different beam pattern than US cars. It's not a symmetric cutoff pattern. Throws more light to the side of the road.

Coding was not required.

If you're ever up this way shoot me a PM.

This is a very lovely set up. Well done.

I just got the VIN for mine, due be shipped to CA 29 JUL 2014. Of all the modifications, the one that I have sought most, and researched unsuccessfully, are rear lights. I have the LED lighting package. What I want is:

- Amber turn signals in the rear (safer, nicer looking)
- Rear fog lights (the car may have them, I don't know).

I am willing to buy new tail lights and am looking for a source.

I am willing to rewire, and would much appreciate getting your wiring diagram.

I am willing to recode (and there is a fairly decent coding outfit in the SF Bay Area I am hoping can do it).

My dealer had no contacts at the factory and all pleas to have the car come with Euro wiring or taillights fell on missing ears.

Thank you.
