Hey guys I have been trolling on the site for quite some time. I bought a 2016 X5 last year for my wife b/c she really liked the one we bought. I tried to convince her to get M-sport but at that time she 1. Didn't care for it and 2. They didn't have the color combo she liked in M-sport. So since it was hers I bought the Pure Experience X5. So I look at the grille all the time and wonder if it should stay or do I need to change to matte black grille. I can't get rid of all the silver in the bumper unless I decide to get M-sport bumper. What should I do? By the way I planning to get the MPPK and surprise with it. I'm not sure if she cares for it or not but I do especially the few times a month I drive it.

Congrats man! Definitely get the MPPK. Both of you will definitely feel the difference. Do a quick search here for the info about mppk and also for a 20% discount coupon at one of the dealer's back east. I believe the coupon code is FEB2017.

If you are looking for a quick and temporary fix then you can plastidip the silver trims on the bumper. It will look good imo. My front amber reflectors are covered with black plastidip and it is still in excellent condition.

I've posted some pictures before, don't really have a close up picture but it's my first winter with it and they are holding pretty good

Plastidip is great stuff but try autodip - even better and looks like paint, not rubber. It's vinyl based

Were the T chrome pieces easy to remove? I'm thinking of dipping them as well.

Thank you! I really like your F15. Biggest regret was not getting Msport .

I agree with this. I've been looking into autodipping my 451 OEM wheels considering they give the high gloss color from OEM. When i did plastidip on my front i didn't know about autodip, so if i had to do it again i would go with autodip. Quick note though, autodip costs a bit more than plastidip.

I really wanted to remove them before plastidipping but it was quite tough to stick my arm inside. The other method was taking off the wheel and wheel well and I didn't want to go through all that hassle. It's best to just cover things up with painter's tape and spray.

If you decide to do it a quick tip for you would be to remove the tape from the chrome tips before it completely dries because there seems to be a problem when peeling problably because there is not enough opening. I had to dip it twice because first i peeled off part of the dip from the chrome pieces.

Any major difference b/w M performance grille and aftermarket? Matte or gloss finish?

No different in fit and finish from what I can tell between OEM and aftermarket (at least the one that RGsport sells), so it's just a matter of what style you like. OEM M Performance only comes in full glossy black, whereas aftermarket you can get matte, glossy, painted, etc.

M performance grill is gloss black on the outer ring and matte on the center slats.
While the aftermarket is only available in dual slat with option of all gloss black, all matte black, or carbon fiber outer ring with gloss black inner dual slats.
