We have 275x20" Scorpions all around on our X5 50i M Sport. They were great in all conditions last winter.

Can post a pic of how this looks? Tire rack claims we can run non staggered tires with the 20" wheels but I'm not sure if the back will look too stretched over a 11" wide wheel

I saw some posts of owners doing this on the E70 forum and it looks really stretched.... Which also decreases sidewall protection. I think your best bet is to go 20x10 wheels on all for corners of you want the benefit of running a squared setup.

A number of owners are running a staggered winter setup and report great results. Honestly, i'd expect snows to be much better than the Conti DWS which many run here all 4 seasons and don't have issues.

I used 4 20" front wheels with 15mm spacers on the rear wheels. Looks perfect.

I like the Pirelli Ice and Snow. They never let me down. I tried to get a set last week. My tire guy said he only found one in the country but I run 19s for winter. Maybe they have your size. I'm thinking about ordering the Blizzack RF, I have heard they are great.

For pretty much the same price why don't you go with 18" rim and tire pkg. This way you save your 20's from all that salt and pothole dmg. Plus you get a much smoother ride for the time being. Also have more tire choices at 18". I'm about to order a set of 18 rims and I think perelli winter something or other non run flat. Added bonus you can mount them yourself without paying to have your tires removed re-balanced and what not.

not sure how to save the cart from tire rack to show pics..
but it's the scorpion winter tire 255/55-18

Check classifieds - I've seen members selling their square 18" and 19" setups.

Yes, I used the front 469Ms all around. Sorry, no pictures. But with 15mm spacers on the rear they look perfect. And they worked great in the snow.

If you check Kijiji, Craigslist or similar websites oftrn you can often find deals on a set with broken rims but not all of them, this way sooner or later you'll have a perfect set of front wheels.
For example - http://goo.gl/l0poCD

Another way - to get replicas from eBay, these guys move lots of stock and may not mind selling your 2 front wheels.

Saw those Rims (http://goo.gl/l0poCD) because I was going to finish them in Gloss Black and use them for a Winter setup. The Rims on that one side (Front and Rear) are so badly damaged that 2 shops I contacted couldn't repair them. The only thing they are good for if you damage one of your original wheels and need a replacement.

I specifically wanted gloss black rims for a winter setup so I went with these that are a perfect match to our Summers. You can get them Square or Staggered. These were about $1,000 CAD (all in) for the set. The Pirelli RTF Winters cost me $2,500 (all in). All in cost which included Rims, Tires, tax, balance, installed and winter storage for the Summers I was $3,500. To do something through a BMW Canadian Dealership was about $6-7,000.

Try the guys @ Tires23 http://www.tires23.com/gallery.aspx. I'm sure they'll find something in 19" that fit the F15.

Just went by my mechanics and my Rims came in. These are a 20" staggered setup. Went with Pirelli's RFT Snow & Ice. Never had Pirelli's so can't comment on how they perform. The reviews have been positive and that is the tire my dealership is recommending.

I'm looking for 19 winter setup as well. How do i make sure the wheels fit F15 called two different tire shop to check VMR v710 19x8.5 ET35 two different answers. One side Msport x5 brake is oversized will fit. One said offset issue won't fit. Any comments? Also thinking Conti DWS 275 315 are those good for Canadian winter?

+1 for the Pirelli Scorpion Ice & Snow...heading into my second winter with them, been very happy. Running staggered setup on my 469Ms.

Indianapolis winter tires

I have a X5 MSport xDrive 35i 2015. Please check my logic here:

I will probably want to use the stock wheels 20" M Light alloy Double Spoke wheels style 469M and go to an all weather run flat (if they exist) or go to a Winter only run flat. Last option would be a no run flat all season.

Current tires are run flat:
Pirelli 275/40/ R20 106 W (Fronts)
Pirelli 315/35/R20 110W (Rear)

Question 1: Are the BMW 469M stock wheels less likely to pit from salt?
Question 2: If so, what tires can I pick for these rims for winter?
Question 3: I would then buy rims for Summer only. (not an expense I really want but would be OK to do that vs. switching rims and tires twice a year. Does this sound right? Is that what most of you are doing is have 2 sets of wheels and tires

Our winters in Indy are not as harsh as for example, Boston or Canada.

Thanks

I will try four front wheels as well

4 x 491 black, 10Jx20 275/40R20 106V XL, Pirelli Scorpion Ice+Snow

Nice to have same on both front and rear to be able to switch placement till next season. Not sure if I will need extra spacers for the rears. Will try without to start.
