When to wax a the new X5?

Finally getting my wife's 2016 X5 M Sport (White / White Ivory) on Tuesday. I was curious about when to put on the first coat of wax. I usually get new cars in the spring so I have plenty of time to protect it going into the winter. I heard you should wait 90 days before waxing which takes me into December. What are you thoughts and what do you recommend? I typically use the Autoglym HD Wax.

I use a sonax sealant instead of waxes, but I think you can put the wax on immediately after you take your delivery. The paint is cured at the factory. Also if the car manufactures think it is a risk to wax your paint immediately after taking delivery, then I think such disclaimer would be written on the manual. Just my opinion.

Anytime is a good time. But if you drive and park it outside daily, do it when the water no longer beads off the panels.

Funny I had mentioned to someone that I wanted to try the Sonax products. What specific Sonax Sealant were you referring to?

I use Sonax Polymer Net shield every 4 months or until the beads are gone. Very easy to apply and take off. You can buy these on amazon and other online stores.

Check out these quick videos on the product.

I had seen this just before your reply. Looks really easy. I'm all over it. Thank you!

Fantastic. I'll put the detailer on the list as well. I guess I'm saying goodbye to Autoglym.

I don't get how that picture makes the product look any good. Care to explain?

ABE2(aw/sw) even with that amount of water on the vehicle, after a quick run at highway speeds all the water has sheeted off, greatly helps eliminate water spots

I ended up getting the Sonax NetShield. It's very different than what I would typically use...spray it, wiped it, no residue. Doesn't feel any different from before and after. It hasn't rained since we've picked up the car so I haven't seen those results.

I have seen most of his videos and he is the best at what he does from what I have seen. I wish there was someone of similar caliber around me that did detail work!

There is... at least for correction and sealing (Opti-Coat). Well-known industry expert. PM me if you want more info.

I know there are plenty of people that do detail work. But I need some one that is passionate and actually cares about the type of work that they are doing. Treating each vehicle as if it was their own.
