road noise and cabin
i just really feel like im back in my jeep wrangler with a soft top.
i have excess road noise coming in. i believe drivers side door and drivers side rear door. other then dynamat type products, what other options might i have for sealing up each individual door jamb? the seals and rubber all seem to be in place and seated correctly, i have no idea if i can tighten the doors and make them seal tighter. i have soft close option. in addition to the loud and obnoxious AC on max(necessary) its close to impossible to get a remotely quiet cabin, or even cruise on the highway at 80 and speak at a normal tone

change tires and remove your spacers. they are picking up alot of road wind since they stick out

the new PSS tires are only slightly louder. and i had the spacers off for a month (only recently put them back on) and still had the issue. i actually stated the interior cabin noise is greater then what it should be for a MSRP 90K on the initial demo ride....they pulled this one out off the showroom floor(only one on lot with DHP and msport) and i test drove it...then bought it. was unhappy day one with road noise, which is funny because all i want to hear is the bass from my sub, and the rumble and pops from the exhaust..

I know the mirrors are noisy on the x5 with windows down, so depending on speed the whistling noise may transfer to the cabin. Maybe drive an x5m and see if those mirrors are better or make less noise which may be a solution

I find my F15 to be very-very quite. Only thing that drives me nuts and makes me wanting to drive it through the wall is rattling back gate.

I'm pretty happy with road noise. Only thing better is the Tesla, but that's an unfair comparison. Tyres make a big difference like everybody has already pointed out.

Had an F15 loaner and the A/C just could not keep up with Texas weather. It was on full blast and the noise was unbearable. The A/C in my E70 is better.

I just started experiencing the creaking noise on the driver side and passenger doors when going over bumps or uneven roads at 5,000 miles on the odometer. I had this problem with my E60 cars and my E70 X5. Only solution the dealer had was put felt tape on the seals and closings and movements...

I drove around with folded rear seats, nothing changed... Long story short, ones i popped the back gate open and drove for few sec, i realize what is rattling. 3 visits to dealer after it is still there. So i am adjusting it myself. Tired of going back forth. :-)

Noise! Noise! Noise!
I too am battling the mystery rattle in my X5 5.0.
Been to the dealer twice and rattle is still there. I believe the rattle is coming from the rear seat. Sounds like a couple of seat springs vibrating together. It's not altered by vehicle speed. I have noticed it at highways speeds as well as 15MPH parking lot navigation. I expect I am going to have to start diagnosing on my own... |

Very happy with noise level in my M=sport x35d with 20" run flat. Had one trip for 700 mikes so far and the car was very quiet and ride very comfortable. No complaints so far...

Cabin Noise
I think I can live with the road noise generated by the run flat tires. Just the nature of the beast, I suppose.
As for the cabin rattle, I have begun self diagnostic procedures in attempt to determine the source. I removed all non essential belongings from the cabin to keep results as pure as possible. I will focus my attention to the comfort seating in the back ( I don't have the third row ), since my initial suspicion is there. This week, I have made my commute with the 60/40 seat partially folded, 60 down and 40 up. So far, the noise is greatly reduced to non-existent. Next week, I will reverse the configuration and see if results are the same. If not a spring or springs underneath the seat, then perhaps it is something in the head rest mounting system. MRB |
