Isn't funny ??
Yes, it's a similar situation here (and surely a bit confusing for persons not being BMW fans like us)

The new X6 starting at the "lowest end" with 3L, 211ps
Then, you can pay more and get it with same 3L and 258ps. Both called "30d".

Only the F15 comes with 2L, 211ps. (25d)
The 3L in this config, gives you 258ps (30d) or also 313ps (40d)

(And to compare, also the Porsche Cayenne starting out with their V6, tuned down to 211ps)

Of course, the bigger engines will always give more NM (lb/ft), but as can be found in the tech tables
- the 25d stands up quite well in acceleration against its older brother 3L/211ps or the new X6/211ps.

All best

But to be really honest ... The 25d does not feel at all underpowered to me, at least not on our Belgian roads with all sorts of speed limits. I get very well along daily traffic, no need for more hp at all. Only thing I miss is the sound of the straight six, but then not even that justifies paying a 20% higher lease price (mostly due to taxation unfortunately).
The X4 comes in same engine lines as X3 for a sportier image, maybe X6 viewed more premium but 0-60 in 8 sec is no slouch and adequate, as a commuter for the 30i/d pre LCI e70 X5 posted similar times if I recall

Thanks for the picture. It looks beautiful, clean and sparkling, just like mine did half a year ago . As for coming across another color like yours things got even easier now since I got the same wheels, too (summer setup, for winter I got different rims). See you on the road.

Would really appreciate you guys taking some snapshots of your MPG L/100km for this thread: http://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1081659

you can update the spreadsheet yourself as well, otherwise I will do so periodically.

X5 25D M Sport on order

Hi Guys,

Thanks for posting your comments, found them really helpful as I navigated my way through which X5 to order. I finally plumped for the 2.5d M Sport in Xdrive. Choose the X drive model because it comes with the adaptive suspension where as the s drive doesn't. Test drove both the 2.5d and the 3.0d and found the 2 litre to be adequate and couldn't justify the extra expense for the 3d (rather have some toys). The dealer I ordered from told me that BMW are to suspend production of the 2.5 d in May this year so the 3d will be the smallest engine you will be able to order in the UK after that date. Really looking forward to getting my car.

Dsmac, suspending the 25d ? In times of downsizing i find that strange ? My dealer told me that in Belgium the 25d was very succesfull especially in the corporate lease market. Curious as to the reasons they would do that ...

Hi there,

First post here, been reading a lot to gather all sort of great infos. What a superb site with lots of nice tips and tricks.
Few weeks back i ordered my first Bmw.
Living in lovely Brussels, i opted for the x25d (company car). presently driving a q5 i wanted to go for the 3d but taxes of all kinds helped me choosing that config.
Never sat in the car, never even drove it, i just booked it like that after watching a few youtube videos and ended on your cool forum
Nevertheless, here is my conf

Sapphire black
Dakota black comfort seats+front heating
Innovation pack (lane assist and so on)
Leather dashboard
Traffic queue assist
Pano roof
Pure experience exterior kit
449 19´´
Led front fog lights 5A1
What they call here exclusive pack(head up etc)
Rear camera
Trailer hook
M steering wheel
Multi function instrumental panel
Side shades + tinted windows
Brushed alu inserts + roof rails

I m like a kid to wait for his present, for the time i ll keep on reading you F15 drivers

One question already: i wonder if anyone knows about the possibility to switch regular exhaust tip ( the round ones here in EU) for those of the M package?

Thks for the inputs

Alex

2.5d

Hey Alegria,

Two different dealers confirmed that they plan to suspend (not stop) production of the 2.5d in the F15 X5. They say this is because it has been a sales flop, although I heard that it may be to do with the hybrid they plan to release. I agree that in europe to makes sense to downsize on the engines. I am more than happy to go with my 2.5d.

Hey flxjet,

Welcome and congratulations. Quite a loaded car, you won't be disappointed with the 25d. Coming from the Q5 2.0 tdi myself, it's definitely a step up in comfort, ride and interior space.

Hi to all,

Having waited four months from placement of my order, I collected my new x5 25d from my BMW dealer last March. As advised, I ran it in gently for the first 1,000 miles and have recently returned to Ireland from a holiday in the UK were I completed a 1,000 mile round trip.

The car performed like a dream and has exceeded all of my expectations in both economy and performance. The only gripe I have thus far is that I find it awkward getting in and out of the vehicle.

Being six foot tall I would not consider myself of small stature. However, I still find it awkward to both enter and exit the cabin without having to bend my head or crease the side support of the driver's seat. It is nigh impossible to enter the cabin and sit centrally in the driving seat without brushing one's weight on the side support of the seat. Incidentally I have comfort seating in the vehicle to both front and rear.

I was wondering if anyone else here was having the same complaint. I have both the seating position of the drivers seat and the steering wheel set and stored. Whilst the steering wheel adjusts to the manufacturers default position, i.e. it rises and retracts into the dash, the seating however does not seem to move.

My concern is that the side support of the driver's seat will wear very quickly. Has anyone any suggestions regarding this issue.

Just picked up on this thread ..... I think the reason for the cut in production is because the 25d gets a completely new engine starting production later this year for MY2016

Hello,

Not yet...but 2L, 231ps and 500NM is quite impressive anyway. Nice of BMW!
Actually, in my dreams I am getting a little interested in the new X5 40eDrive (either 279 or 313HP), but as we do not have even a single charging point in our garage...its kind of a dead end.
I mean, no point in buying it, never be able to charge and drive around on gas only + pulling your useless battery around.
Then, a pure Diesel is still way better for us.
And then - the new 231ps engine could be of interest

All best

Maybe you will be one of the very first in Norway to get this new 231ps engine.
Anyway, please post some impressions in early spring when you have had your new machine for a while :-)
