The Ontario plate in the photos is interesting, will the X5 M50d be on sale in Canada? Even if not, I have a hard time understanding why they would keep the Ontario plates in the photos if it is just for marketing purposes. Usually BMW have EU plates for their photos?

I agree, they did take these photos in Canada with Ontario Plates still on and I remember BMW Canada had Ontario plates a Euro Spec Countryman JCW a few years back.

Logically speaking the BMW X5 M50d already has all the bits aside from the official okay from the government.

Canadian cars uses the same KPH cluster
The M-sport bumpers with side markers is already available.
New diesels should be built to meet NOX standards already.

I don't see why we might not see this car available in the Canadian Market.

Everyone -- the car has Canadian plates because the press drives are being held in Vancouver (and photos were shot there).

You'll see similar Ontario plates on the X5 models featured in the various first drive reviews from press outlets.

Not quite. The straight 6 Cummins diesel they put in the current gen Rams puts out 385 hp and 850 lb-ft of torque.

I would love one of these sitting next to my 1M Coupe in the garage... Too bad it won't come to the US.

I would like to see an M Sport with fog delete option...
I can't understand who approved their position
Maybe only X5 M will have the fog lights deleted, this will give a much better look!

So Jason, will the car come to Canada or not? Is the car assembled in Germany or the USA do you know or can you find out?

Would be nice to know ... I'm thinking of changing my M3 to a SUV Diesel ... if it's not going to be the Bimmer then it will be the Porsche Cayenne Diesel.

Thanks

I don't definitively know if the M50d will come to Canada or not, but if I had to guess, I would say it's unlikely.

All X5 models are assembled in USA, at the Spartanburg, South Carolina plant.

Interior :
looks great but follows instead of leads.
Exterior:
Very x3-ish but more feminine and too safe. Not so good.
I'm not so sure the x5 should be the stylistic follower.

The rear is very minivan/crossover/ Toyota Venza ish(?)
The rear glass is all wrong. Sure, maybe they increased their cargo volume but It wrecks the side view.

Its lost its edginess and aggression.

I think BMW needs to shake it up a bit, like they did under Bangle.

Yeah yeah everybody bashes tihis guy but he stretched the industry
and he knew that making "different" is critical to keeping your more demanding customers engaged.

I know I'm preaching to the choir here but:
Why buy a BMW if it doesn't handle the best , go the fastest, have the leading tech and be the
coolest looking thing?!

I'm just a little bored. Hopefully the x6 will be more aggressive as speculated.
