Badging (especially chrome) interrupts the flow of the body color of cars. Similar to Xline and Lux Line X5s.. the black plastic trim around the wheel and bumper area clashes hard with the exterior body color.
The side xDrive 35i or 50i make the side profile look too busy. In Europe this is a common practice and I believe the US adopted this practice. And yes, if I had a X5M I would still debadge.. I would even get rid of that ridiculous looking side air inlet fender cover that reads X5M as well. I also like the black gloss or black chrome rebadging of the X5 trunk emblem though. This color would flow a lot better than a cheap looking chrome plastic badge.

If you wanted, I know you said you didn't want to because your leasing... but you could remove the emblems and reapply them at lease turn in with a double sided 3m tape you can purchase at any auto store for a few dollars.

You can purchase the black and black chrome from iND http://ind-distribution.com/ind/brands/ind-black-chrome Member Alan L got his from here for like $95 I believe. I would get it but I can't justify paying that much for an emblem

Looks great. Congrats on the beautiful car!
As for debadging... I debadge my cars. Easier to clean. Don't care if people know if I have a V8 or not. |

Can you show pics of how/where you hardwired the V1? ... I hardwired mine and was going to do the BlendMount, but it sits too low below the mirror, so I just left it on suction cups... but it looks like you hard mounted it on the pass side? . |

a long time ago... my dad was buying a slightly used car from a friend who was a partner in a used car dealership in Ridgefield CT.... the evening before he was to pick it up, the friend had a small cocktail party, and my dad was talking with the other partner. He told him that one of the first things he was going to do was remove the dealer sticker off the rear. When my dad picked up the car the next day, he found that the a**hole partner had peeled the dealer sticker off first thing in the morning, took a screwdriver to the paint, and put on a new dealer sticker over it I'll never forget that ... I've added it to my "people suck" file . |
