Badging (especially chrome) interrupts the flow of the body color of cars. Similar to Xline and Lux Line X5s.. the black plastic trim around the wheel and bumper area clashes hard with the exterior body color.

The side xDrive 35i or 50i make the side profile look too busy. In Europe this is a common practice and I believe the US adopted this practice. And yes, if I had a X5M I would still debadge.. I would even get rid of that ridiculous looking side air inlet fender cover that reads X5M as well.

I also like the black gloss or black chrome rebadging of the X5 trunk emblem though. This color would flow a lot better than a cheap looking chrome plastic badge.

Where can I order the black X5 badge for the back? I've seen a few on eBay, but none look exactly right. Is there a reputable place to buy the black badges?

But personally I don't get de-badging. Even if I could do it, I wouldn't. In fact, I wouldn't have even thought of it. Would you take off or cover up the BMW logos on the hood and rear if you could, too?

I guess de-badging does give the vehicle a cleaner, uninterrupted look, especially in certain colors like CB.

I'm not judging anyone who's into de-badging! And I know there's strongly held views on this subject in this forum, so I'll just slink back to my dark corner of the world where badges are embraced.

Taking off the misc badges like the side xDrive 35i, 35d, or 50i and the rear X5 is slightly different fro taking off the manufacture logos. The area where the logo sits is indented and if you took off the logo you would have a round indention where the logo originally sits. I believe the rear is the same. or it may have two holes where the pins are inserted.

If you wanted, I know you said you didn't want to because your leasing... but you could remove the emblems and reapply them at lease turn in with a double sided 3m tape you can purchase at any auto store for a few dollars.

Yes, the ones on Ebay and Amazon are for the E70 models so the X5 emblem is slightly different in size and I think also in Font style.

You can purchase the black and black chrome from iND http://ind-distribution.com/ind/brands/ind-black-chrome Member Alan L got his from here for like $95 I believe. I would get it but I can't justify paying that much for an emblem

Looks great. Congrats on the beautiful car!

As for debadging... I debadge my cars. Easier to clean. Don't care if people know if I have a V8 or not.

I must be a fool, I don't see the black X5 trunk emblem there. I see the black BMW circle, but not the X5. Can you post a direct link?

Right, that's the round emblem. I am looking for the X5 letters in black. The ones on the right side of the trunk.
