Squeaky Drivers side door armrest/door trim

Hi Guys,

did some searching on here but figured I would post since I didnt find anything specific to my issue so I apologize first if I missed it. When I open and close my drivers door and push on the armrest it kinda squeaks, not high pitched kind of a lower pitched rub sound. I can press on the armrest towards the door and it kinda does it as well. Also when I press just above the arm rest it makes the sound. I am wondering if anyone else has seen this. I usually use my elbow to kind of swing the door open so I hear it all the time getting out of the car. Very hard to tell if its the door panel or the armrest because it sounds like both are making the noise. Anyway before I made an appointment and they rip my door panel off I figured I would ask here. Thanks in advance.

you might need to just tighten the screws behind the door trim to stop the squeaking

They are on the inside of the doir panel. Thats what is actually keeping your arm rest area attached to the door panel

My door panel is fine, its my center armrest/console that squeaks when you lean on it...rather annoying.

My wife's center armrest squeaks, too. Not both sides -- just the driver's side panel. It's bothered me every time I would drive her car. She said she doesn't notice it, so I never pressed about having it checked.

When my X5 came, I was very appreciative of the fact that neither center armrest door squeaks when you lean against it.

I'd be interested in what you find out to see if there's an easy fix for my wife's X5.

Im not sure the screws are the problem as its more near the center of the panel....like if you push the armrest area specifically towards the door.

Same issue on mine. More of a creak and all of the exterior fasteners are tight so it has to be internal.

I would like to find the time to remove the door panel and install felt tape to the contact areas and creaking comes from.

Passenger side front door isn't bad but is a slight creak.

Other rattles that are driving me crazy:

- rattle that appears to be coming from the passenger side rear seat. I did the fix that they recommended on older x5's but it is still there. Intermittent but is driving me crazy.

- creaking from the dash nav area. Seems to be when the interior is adjusting to the temperature after startup. It will get better after 5-10 minutes and then is only there on big bumps.

- driver side upper seat belt area. Intermittent

- passenger side lower body area. When changing lanes and hitting the road reflectors there is sometimes a tinny or metallic sound.

- Today I noticed there is a big rattle when I shut the drivers door. This is new and sounds like something came loose.

Haven't had time to take it to the dealer or really check things out since I drive by myself pretty much all the time.

My F10 was quiet and no rattles so this is disappointing for the price of the vehicle.

I completely agree with you. Now that is a little cold out I feel like I hear plenty more. Center armrest is squeaking also now when someone has their arms on it. My old Tahoe didnt creak at all. Kind of disappointing. I will take a small video of the door creak.

Hi guys.

My armrest also was squeling. I used some silicone spray for plastic. It did the job. Now no sound at all.

Has anyone had experience with a dealer fixing it? So annoying but I really don't like the idea of them ripping the door apart

My opinion about what I have seen on video is that something does not sit right. I think you should get it checked by your dealer.

I used spray inside my armrest compartment. Open booth sides and spray the part which holds the armrest door. Sorry don't know the word in english. It is the same as the thing which makes the door move.

My armrest does not make any sound no more.

Its odd the passenger side doesnt creak at all. Just the drivers door. I guess I will be making a trip to the dealer after the holidays.

I had an issue where, everytime when I drive the car on the highway, I guess the highway vibration causes this, it makes this weird rattle just on the driver's door, I have no idea where it's coming from. took it to the dealer, they said they fixed it but the noise is still there, the technician noted he took the door apart, now I'm getting similar noise to the video you posted, but your squeak is rather loud.

It's really not that loud I just had the phone right next to it. I wonder what the dealer will do actually... I really don't want other problems
