Here is X54TH's comment (I still don't know how to put multiple quotes in my posts):
"Hate to change subjects but does anyone know of a cargo "net" that is upright or envelope style? I presently have the OEM BMW flat tie down type but looking for one that hooks upright that can hold something in it."

I have to say that the cargo net that came in the secret compartment is envelope style but leaves something to be desired. The net has tiny hooks on each of the four corners. Those hooks just are not large enough to stay on to the attachment points to slide on the track and not even in the holes just aft of the hook for the privacy cover. We really need something more substantial. I want to be able to place grocery bags in the net and not worry about them falling over. The envelope style net does this best but not the version that came with my X5. The hooks are just too small. Any suggestions of where we can get a more substantial cargo net and also, where the hooks on a better net would go?
I have Cargo B and I have the flat (non envelope) net. I have been looking to find an envelope style for a long time and especially trying to find the right hooks. My Jeep Overland is the perfect net. It actually fits the X5 except there are only two hooks so I've been trying to find two hooks for the top part. You'd think that would be easy. Not so. Still looking.

I think we've really screwed up this thread by shifting gears. Oh well. LOL

You might want to check these links for the envelope style cargo net:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Nylon-Car-Re...ZRlE4v&vxp=mtr

and another one

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Envelope-Sty...1VjMUC&vxp=mtr

If the link gets re-adjusted by the forum (can't make it recognize normal link - smilies all around), just use this phrase on ebay.com to find the product: "Envelope Style Trunk Cargo Net for BMW"

Saw those. The issue are the hooks. Found something the other day and didn't bookmark it but it looked good. I just wanted to check the size.

LOL. Did the same. I just sent another forum member a list of all the little stuff I bought.

The problem with those hooks is they won't go in to the 2 slots (holes) at the top. Take a picture tomorrow of the slot / hole at the top and the type of hook we need. I saw one the other day and I can't find it now.

Found it. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Black-Car-Tr...a162c2&vxp=mtr

These hooks should work. I just got to measure it to see if it will fit properly.

Ok, I think this one will work http://www.ebay.com/itm/Black-Car-Tr...a162c2&vxp=mtr
Here are the pics I promised. My Jeep's Cargo Net works well in size and the hooks. I'll order that one from Ebay now which is similar in sizing to the Jeep's cargo net. She's on order coming from China.

I think someone had asked me about storage underneath the cargo lid. My wife bought a box at the department store for $6.99. For those in Canada it was RCSS. The key is that the box measures 8" in height. The BMW one is about $70 and I'm not sure what that measures in height. It might not be suitable in the storage area. Anyway I think I'll pick up another one.

I got the message today from BMW that my car was shipped and will arrive in Europe in about 4 weeks. So I went online the 358th time to check my Amazon wish list where i saved the links to small items i believe i would need. Checked the cargo net again and then this thread - thanks for the pics BTW - and realized you mentioned you have the list of small stuff as well. Can you please share that list for me to check if i'm missing smth useful.

So far I have the following items in the wish list:

- the sunglasses holder for my wife,
- cover under the child carseat,
- passenger front seat protector/bag for the kid sitting behind,
- foldable trash bag,
- foldable food/groceries bag for the trunk,
- iPad holders to be fixed on the neck protectors for passengers in the back (long trips),
- envelope cargo net,
- cargo belt/supporting mechanism for the bags
- magnetic cell phone holder,
- (all-weather matts and cargo matt will be provided by BMW as part of the deal),
- thule wing-bar edge roof rack system,
- thule xt excellence roof box,
- a set of sprays and microfiber towels for quick exterior/interior fix/"dry"cleaning (on board in a small bag)
- disposable wet towels for the interior surfaces
- a set of cleaning detergents/sprays/accessories for cleaning/washing/drying/small detailing (kept in the cellar - no garage here, just a rented spot in the underground garange - done with the chemicals for a few months)
- a pack of disposable gloves for the tanking, etc.
- rear seats protector for the pets (no pets here, but sometimes i might need some protection for the leather seats),
- same-same but different for the cargo area for dirty stuff if needed
- some emergency torch,
- plastic bags for dirty shoes/ bad weather,
- cargo bags like on car-bags.com,
- cargo bags for thule roof box,
- some tape to eliminate interior rattling sounds
- Bavsound subwoofers if HK sound is suspicious (used to do some sound editing in the past and have to say the sound we hear doesn't come directly from the source to our ears 100%, the reflection surfaces/room matter and thus the final mix is always different depending on the interior rim, weather, number of people inside, ambient noise outside, clothing you are in, etc. In short, for some the louder the better, I prefer wide dynamic range but in quite environment. In the car? A nice compressor would help, every material/tune requires custom adjustments... No one big pill for all that. I'll measure the freq response with HK inside with a few reference tracks and decide if I need Bavsound, but I have some suspicion these guys already did their homework - all i have to do is to check bmw's and then theirs

Last but not the least - i should create some rules of thumb for my family members as for the behavior in the car to prevent damage to or accelerated tear and wear of interior/exterior.

Now I'm getting off topic on the off topic issues.

In fine, Any thoughts and/or checklists would be very much appreciated.

LoL, right you are, we did thread jacked. My only hope is that this info will be helpful for the others.

As for the list, wow, very nice. Totally forgot about the oil, USB charger, nice flashlight. I'm contemplating the under-the-seat fire extinguisher.

Definitely useful list - big thanks!!!

LOL. I like these little treasures. Let me know what else you find. I'm going to try and order that mini outlet flashlight for the Cargo area today. I'll let you know when the envelop style cargo net comes in and how it works.

Cargo Accessory - LED Light

Ok, we probably need to change this thread to Cargo Accessories. LOL

My Jeep Overland has a removal flashlight built into the cargo area that has proven to be useful on a number of occasions. So I thought I'd look for something I could do with the X5 to give me that capability. I bought a rechargeable mini LED flashlight that plus into the power outlet in the cargo area. I think it cost me ~$35 or so. I thought it was worth sharing with you guys.

When you first plug in the LED it lights blue which indicates its charging. Once it reaches it's charge it turns off. You can see the cover is not totally flush but I think it will serve it's purpose. The idea is to have it available and remove it from the outlet. The head turns left for off and right for on.

Thanks for sharing! I thought that was
for the cabin. Cargo flash light is ingenious. I immediately recall our ski trip when we reached the hotel in the mountains late at night and were deciding what to get from the car to the room and what not - cargo area tightly packed. Such a little gadget would have saved me half an hour at freezing temp. I would say a must-have gadget.

Oh, what about the impact on the battery? )) Hey, but that's another thread)

LOL, I'll let you start that thread.

The blue will turn off once it reaches a charge. It was already charged so I don't really know how long it would take. I used it for a few minutes and plugged it back in. I think within a minute that thing was fully charged and turned off so I don't think it would impact the battery at all.

Still waiting for the Cargo Net Envelope style. I'll keep you posted on that accessory.

Picked up B yesterday. So far so good.

I like the material. Looks like it will be good for damp/wet gear.

Hey guys, I got a cargo mat as a gift from my dealer and it seems to me that the fitting of it is not what Im used to (at least comparing to Weathertech fitting which is perfect)
Maybe someone her has the BMW OEM one similar to mine to check if the fitting on all 4 corners is like the pictures below? Looks to me the fitting on the inner ones was intentionally made for the cargo hooks, but the 2 rear corners seem to fit pretty odd in my opinion.....hope someone will send some feedback or pictures, also Im attaching the OEM part # as a reference, my car is a 2016 F15

Side note on A: I have it and it's very slippery. Things slide around a lot (especially the stroller).

Thanks, I usually dont carry anything on the back, still have the net option and the aluminum rails, my concern was the fitting on all 4 corners, after browsing on the internet, it seems like the one I correct

Been using B since my last post and have been on a 10 day trim with the back packed solid along with some typical trips with the Stokke in the back.

The material used is very good in that it's 'sticky', so things don't move around. Some downsides however are that it gets very dirty and shows. I'm yet to wash it yet however though I'm confident it will come up good as new.

Another issue. While it fits well into the car, the fact it's not completely flat makes it a little annoying for things like prama which you want to cram right into the back of the seat. The shape of the Matt upper surface has a triangular shape to it so things so sit completely flat.

Otherwise, pretty awesome. Just don't pay retail.

I have A and like it. The only thing it does is rolls up slightly where the tailgate meets it. But it does allow me to lift the spare tire area latch (which I use for storage) without removing the cargo liner.
