Question The 2016 X5 35i is here....

The 35i has arrived. so not sure what to do now...
They know I want a diesel...they've asked me to make a decision by end of November whether I want it or not...they will add it to their inventory if I do not want it...
I was thinking to ask for an additional discount to justify the fuel consumption vs the diesel...since they may have trouble selling it as quote by dealer "it is a special vehicle with lots of unique options"...
Thoughts?

What kind of a discount did they give you?

I mean if I should be bargaining for a discount..
My question is, would they be more incentivized to get rid of the vehicle at hand if it would mean an extra discount or would they sleep on it and sell it as an inventory?

I think knowing what kind of discount you already got would allow others to help you decide what you should or shouldn't be asking for

If you don't mind me asking, why get a 2014 and then a 2016. Was the first one a lease?

No. It was purchased. Someone was interested in my vehicle and bought it off me and it turned out a win-win...I actually sold it higher than I paid for it myself after two years as I exported it to the States.

I've heard 2 things coming out of sales person's mouth...as I was placing the order he was saying that they sell them as fast as they bring them in. When I called him back 2 weeks later and said I made a mistake in the options and contemplating a Diesel he basically told me that he wouldn't know what to do with my car...that could have been because it was white on white??? Anyway, he wasn't looking to help me out. Who knows. Now that we have it and have driven it over these past two months, every option I wanted I haven't missed including the Diesel. I bought a set of winters that I'm happy with. Going to put on the MPPK. I'm really happy with our outcome. This won't be my last X5 that's for sure!!

Tough call. You might as well ride it out until the end of the month as see if the Diesel comes out. You can also push them for a bit more. What have you got to lose at this point. They are giving you the option to get out of it as well. Take your time and see how it plays out.

is that like 1.2% or so? I think these guys only have a max of 7% which they will not go to. PM or text me what your discount was.

Hey Shaw. Do you have the ability to build a 2016 Diesel. I say this because I looked at building my 2016 M Sport online and it looks like they made a change and force Premium Seating ($2,900) into that M Sport Line. I'm convinced this was done to mitigate / offset some of our devalued currency. So essentially if I were to order my M Sport 35i today it would cost me $2,900 more and in turn I would get Premium Seating (I think that is the Napa Leather).

I say all this because I wonder if they would honour your original build or would you be forced into an option you didn't want only to end up paying more.

Hope I made sense in what I wrote.

This was like that from the beginning...I think that's a glitch...if you look at the order guide, you can select them.
There are lot of glitches on their config system...
i.e. Selecting 3rd row only with XLine, Premium seat only with MLine,...aluminum board with XLine only, etc
Stick to the order guide, that prevails.
But thx for noticing...

For ~$70k vehicle I would get exactly what I wanted. If thats a diesel for you, then wait a few weeks/months for the diesel. I would not settle when it involves the kind of money an X5 cost.

well you guys in the States already have it on your configurator...(2016 diesel)...so I'm guessing you can place your order already.
I think the debate is now for Canada where it is very unclear...
we're waiting to hear back from the dealer provisionally this week...
my hard guess is January. Now I'm not sure whether the Order is placed in January or delivery would be in January (order in December).

In the new order guide it states: SOP for Diesel 01/16. I guess that should logically mean orders should be taken now.

My thoughts exactly. No sense in settling for something thats not exactly what you want.

100% valid...but the issue is the uncertainty of the order/delivery as of yet with diesel...our initial order WAS a diesel...then it blew up in 1000 pieces...

they could make us wait longer just to force us into accepting the 35i...it will be an easy argument : " we have no allocations for January, you will have to wait and see if we get any allocations for Feb/Mar!"
note that I have around $50K sitting at the dealership...the more I wait the more they earn with my money!
