Milk spill front passenger seat!!

So other day, while out during holidays, my daughters milk bottle leaked on the front passenger seat. I've Dakota Mocha leather. It leaked about 4oz. (120ml) milk and seat absorbed it right away into the seat cushion.. Any ideas to get the milk out? I'll use a leather cleaner and conditioner on the seat but before I do that I thought seek forums advise.

It's on my 16'X5 :

Garage List
I had Mocha Dakota on my 2014.... Never had issues...
Dakota is a tougher, stiffer leather....
Just try to dry it asap
Whatever is inside will be history as soon as it is dried...

Could be a tough one, as the milk will soon sour and become, well...stinky! Had a jug of milk split once in my trunk, and found its way into the spare tire well. It was definitely not easy to get the smell out.

Yeah, that's my worry. Good thing is it's winter and my hope is milk will not rot "as much" as it would in summer., we'll see. Been few days now, I don't smell anything funky as yet ?

Been there, done that. It is not gonna smell, as it is absorbed and very likely already dried.

Maybe try some anti bacterial wipes on the seat area

Then use lexol leather cleaner / conditioner

Ventilated seats? If yes, it is likely in the foam.

Hope that things work out; however, if the smell becomes bad keep in mind that comprehensive insurance coverage (same thing that pays for fire or theft) would pay for replacement of the seat cushion and cover and anything else affected subject to you paying your deductible.

You might also ask your service department if the liquid will cause any problems with seat heating, sensors, etc.

Baking soda is like magic against (nearly) all odors, including body oder. You have to pour it on thick, let it sit for a good while (over night), and vacuum. Any absorbed in the seat foam cannot be treated this way of course.

I hope you had a chance to wipe off the spill quickly and are just worried about any small residual.

Milk got into the cushion right away and I saw it much later when we returned to the car. But I guess damage is done, will wait it out to see if I get any nasty odors, keeping my fingers crossed.

Thanks for the inputs everyone, cheers!

I don't have ventilated seat option. I plan not to turn on seat heating for next few weeks until milk dries out completely (this way I can be sure I'm not short circuiting some electronics that might be part of seat heating)

Thanks for the tip on comprehensive coverage. Though I might not go that route as it might bump up my insurance premium 😀

Comprehensive claims will not bump up your insurance premium, at least not directly. They can, however, affect your insurability with other carriers. If that prevents you from obtaining a lower rate with another carrier, then it does indirectly affect your premiums.
