iPhone contacts not showing up

My contacts disappeared after starting my car today. I have had no problems since purchasing new in 2015. My phone is paired and can make a call if I use Seri. Any suggestions to fix this.

Try remove and re-add the phone from Bluetooth setting in the iDrive.
And check the Bluetooth setting on the phone to allow sync on Contacts and others where available.

Interesting. I had the same thing happen to me a week or two ago. I wonder if a recent iOS update disabled contact syncing by default. I handed the phone to my teenage daughter and she had it figured out in about a minute. As stated above, I think the key was to enable contact syncing on the phone. Go to Settings -> Bluetooth -> Your BMW. Hit the "i" and verify that "Sync Contacts" is enabled. You should not need to repair the phone with the car.

My phone updated and apparently changed my contact setting. It now works.
