How Much Luggage Does X5 Hold?
Sorry for the sloppy photo but if I had waited 2 seconds longer TSA would have booked me.
Three full suitcases, three carry-on cases, and a small backpack. I had room for one more carry on. Everything fit easily with back seats fully occupied by passengers. Nothing was carried in the front/seat area.

What, no double stroller, no pillows and stuffed animals on top of the cargo cover, and no loose shopping bags of last minute junk that was packed after your wife tells you "this is everything…?" Looks like you had it easy

Actually, the youngest is five years past strollers. I have an 18 CF cargo box for skiing and camping that comes in very handy, and I highly recommend them. |

Thanks for posting this. Now I know my BIG 3 suitcases that literally hold my entire wardrobe will perfectly fit with room to spare! Going from an FX35 with a low cargo roof to my X5 is a HUGE space upgrade .

Looks like you are very organized.
On a different note, where did you get the mud flaps for the M-Sport? That is something I have been thinking about for mine with the roads and snow up here.

Just type into google: BMW (part number) and you will get a bunch of options to buy...pick ECSTuning for cheapest shipping/total or ask your dealer for a better price.

Please search painted mud flaps / mud flaps. I've explained the rationale and cost/process in that thread. Bottom line catalog says not fit but it does. |

Luggage Sets
Has anyone looked at the F15 fit luggage sets from car-bags.com? I was considering these as fitting all different sizes of suit cases for trips is usually an nightmare, so having a set that completely uses the main space would be good, with kids rucsacs on top behind the luggage net.

I would tend to stay with major luggage brands, give up fit for better overall design, durability and serviceability. That said, if I had a long haul trip, say 2000+ miles, and heavily packed I would get these for the trip. Nice find. New to me. |

Image 1 (shot from my storage) - I have 6 luggages in the house now. There are only 2 "large" size, 1 medium, 2 small, and 1 carry-on. Totally 6. From the right to the left, their sizes are - 21 x 13 x 9 23 x 15 x 10 23 x 15 x 10 28 x 18 x 13 32 x 21 x 14 32 x 22 x 14 Image 2 (shot from the tailgate) - before loading the luggages, I'll have to remove the cover. Then, I can only fit 2 large ones plus 1 medium one. Image 3 (shot from the rear-left side door) - I'll have to occupy 60 of the back seats in order to fit the rest of 2 small ones and the carry-on. Anyway, our cargo space is so-so. |

I note that you packed the safe way, without anything on top of the suitcases where rear view would bet blocked, or items could fly into the passenger are when braking. I did not. One way around that is to put some wider, flat items in the bottom, and the bigger suitcases on those. Again, yours is the safest way, mine tried to use every cubic feet / liter, at the expense of safety (though I kept all the light stuff on top ). |

That's definitely the safest way, lol. I always stack and never put anything that could "break" within my large suit cases that are on the bottom. I'm sure if done right, the suit cases could be stacked better/easily to leave more room. That's just me .

I can fit two 29" spinners a 21" spinner and a "mobile office" carry-on rolly bag all without folding the rear (2nd row) seats (I don't have a 3rd row)

Yeah, I permanently took out mine and the ones in both our MLs after realizing more height was necessary for certain things including luggage. I'm not really sure what the cover's use is except to protect food (if camping or going somewhere) from heat and allow others not to see what someone is hiding back there .
