Uh, after reading this thread, reminds me when my car had issue while on a road trip.
I had to stuff in the stuffs that was filling up 3/4 of the X5 trunk into an X1. It was a nightmare.

This is the key to me... when parking it on the streets. I like to keep it simple and neat. I always keep the car cleaned, except the umbrella on the floor of the back seats and the ETC on the windshield, you probably see nothing else...

Spare Tire Compartment

Just as a quick footnote for those that do not have the optional spare tire installed, two Travel Pro roll-aboards (airplane carry-ons) will fit snugly side-by-side under the floor in the spare tire compartement. Almost like it was made with them in mind! That can provide even more space if needed! I assume any overhead compartment approved roll-aboards would fit in the same way.

I lOVE the spare tire well storage you get if you don't order it with a spare tire. We can fit so much more luggage in there and its totally hidden! Probably one of my favorite features of the car.

The cover has also a net that is attached to the roof that stops all the luggage hitting the passangers in the head if there is an accident. Sadly there is no separate net as I had in the Audi Q5, where I immediately removed the cover. In the BMW it sadly has to stay in because of the safety net.

The U.S. Version of the cargo area cover does not have the vertical netting

I test drive X5 over the weekend and was anxious if it will hold two large suite cases with baby stroller. You guys did put my fears to rest. Otherwise I was thinking to do some real life testing!!!

Be mindful, for the capacities reported above, everyone had their retractable cargo cover removed. Just to avoid any false expectations.

That's all impressive and all, but how many strippers can an X5 hold?
