Extended Warranty? BMW vs 3rd Party

I am thinking to purchase the extended warranty pretty soon for the sake of my mind.

My car only ran about 20k miles but have been to service a couple of times to take care of rattles or squeaky noise. Luckily, they're all gone now but it won't make me feel secure for the future. And owning a V8 engine also makes me more convinced to get the one.

For those who purchased the extended warranty,
How much did you pay?

Does anyone know one who can get me the best quote?
Or do you have any suggestions for the third party warranty?

So when I bought my 2015 CPO my credit union offered a Mechanical Break down coverage option but passed on it because I had CPO. I asked what company they use and it was Mercury like the insurance company. Price is dependent on age and mileage. So for instance the cheapest option for my wifes 2015 F30 with 26k on the odo was full coverage (more than CPO) at a term of 75k/60 mos for $2400. The 60 mos starts the day you purchase contract or if you hit 75k on the odo before the 60 mos. You can also go up to 100k and 72 mos. Deductible was $100.

Anyone from Canada have purchased the extended warranty? I have a preowned 2016 F15 which is under warranty till Nov 2019.

My odds are to buy warranty or trade in and get another vehicle.

There is time left so not in hurry but will certainly appreciate if anyone can share what they did when they were in a similar situation.

I bought an extra 3 years (and up to 100,000km total odometer reading) from BMW for around $4,000 CAD + tax for my 2015 X5d with 58k kms.. Pricing was similar to third party options, and with the known diesel issues I thought it will help me sleep at night. Haven't had to use it yet, but it's only been just over a month into the extension.
