point taken there. just another reminder not to get too excited (positively or negatively) by any BMW concept vehicle or BMW vehicle in camo.

Am I the only one that thinks this thing is looking a bit Fugmo? What's with the lower grill horizontal slats? The concept was great looking but I am a bit underwhelmed by the look a of this driving roller skate. The concept had an appropriately aggressive lower fascia that had design cues with the M2 and carried the angles very well. I just don't see it here.

I didn't realize it wasn't coming at launch. That's a real downer. Amazing how BMW has dragged their feet with a 300hp+ four cylinder engine.

Right, they didn't - that's my point. A transverse engine does not necessitate Haldex.

Point is, it can be done. The bigger problem seems to be that BMW hasn't even brought a 300hp I4 to market yet, so who knows when they would have one with 400hp+ ready. That is the price of entry for this class now - Mercedes recently stated their intentions to deliver that much in their next generation of *45 AMG vehicles, upping the game from Audi's latest I5 turbo.

I'm cautiously pessimistic... the rear doesn't look much like a BMW with those fat hips.

There's actually a lot going on on the UKL drivetrain front. BMW has just done a quiet release for the transverse B38 TU and B48 TU in 18i and 20i tunes, using DCT on the sDrives (the fact that they are TUs is not really advertised, the PR just said "further developed engines"). A little later there'll be the TU for all other UKL gas models, which will now include the U.S. models of both Mini and X1, with DCT also spreading to more models. X2 will actually have a very short initial run of the current drivetrain, and then it will switch to TU (possibly within the first model year), and only then it'll get the M35i version.

The TU is pretty major BTW, even though the numbers are the same or change very little. For example, the engine ECU is completely new.

BTW if anyone's interested, the DCT is this one http://www.getrag.com/en/products/po...0/7dct300.html

Yes but sadly no 6 pot engine!

This car still has certain areas hidden too. I think there's a tiny rear quarter window behind the rear door (still camouflaged) which is a shame because there will be too many frame uprights near the rear!

I'll reserve judgement until the full reveal... this camo does the cars no favours at all, the shape was looking quite nice in the original B&W camo but it's starting to look frumpy now... hope it's just the dodgy camo playing tricks on the eyes!

Maybe it's just me... The proportions seem totally different than the concept.

Predictable, but disappointing anyway.

It's on lower specification wheels. Aerodynamically honed for its effortless urban stride shown here on the streets of Berlin. But in full M Specification and with 19" wheels and in metallic Orange a similar shown with the concept.
It really pops out. Especially in the Sunshine.
It will probably be a interesting choice especially in its hatch-come-Coupe crossover outline especially between the outgoing 1er Sport hatch.

The outline from concept to production remains the same.
The problem is that the concept rode on 21" wheels so it was considerably higher.
