Sounds like it will be an unfortunate ending for the dogs but despite what he says, the owner obviously didn't care that much about them. He left them outside in this ridiculous heat during peak hurricane season without making sure the caretaker could get them indoors if needed, and apparently never called or contacted the caretaker while on vacation. I don't understand how people can leave their dogs outside in South Florida in the summer with or without a storm. Difficult situation to resolve because it is unlikely many people would he interested in adopting the older dogs. Unclear what penalty, if any, the owner will incur so it sounds like the dogs are the penalized.

Yea this one is an oddball Rick. Hard to tell if he's just an idiot or did it maliciously. I tend to think he's an idiot as I'm not willing to condemn him yet. But maybe his intent was malicious. So many others that did it probably don't care enough to even make up an excuse. I'm glad you are shining a light on this and keeping it going. It's the old "if it saves one dog" story. Hopefully one person reads that story and realizes you have to prepare better.

Hey Rick, any updates on the Keys? I know you were trying to get down there and see what help you could offer.
