Most interesting thing is no heavy right foot, breaking period for another 800 or so

My 50i is now getting 11.3 after a LONG time of hyper-miling in EcoPro. I must say though, the coasting feature works better than expected. It goes to show how much momentum and forward inertia there is while taking the foot off the accelerator. Most trips I'm getting 9.5MPG, I can hear it drinking the gas as I gingerly step on the accelerator.

I've done 3000 miles in my xDrive 35i, and I'm averaging slightly under 21 mpg. Probably 70% highway. I tend to switch between Eco Pro, Comfort and Sport modes to suit whatever type of driving I'm doing and have used them all about equally.

OMG. BMW is going to be lucky to still be allowed to sell cars in California if they kick out vehicles with numbers like this. These numbers are WAY below their estimates, and are almost "what's wrong with the engine?" bad. They should be ashamed of themselves.

I have used the M Lap timer app(can't wait to use it on the M3) and put it through its paces once since I got it. I still don't see how that one run made such a difference in my overall performance. I'm hoping its just the 'break-in' period. But as you can see from my previous cars in my signature I'm used to it. I did have a 35i on order in the hopes that 1) the truck will be the wifes in a years time and 2) save some $ on gas. Sadly I didn't have the ability to get into an M sport 35i optioned the way I wanted and had to take what was on the lot.

Spot on with 11.3 MPG for the 50i in NYC! That's exactly what I'm averaging for 3K now.

I really am finding it hard that the EcoPro mode vs Sport + makes such a dramatic difference. If you notice on the first photo it was EcoPro and then Sport + and I was still trying to 'hyper mile' and coast (although not BMWs definition of 'coasting' since its not available in Sport+) every chance I got.

Also, I'm assuming I've only been in the car for 11 hours now if the 16hr window isn't showing me more than 11 hours. I suppose this looks average for the 50i owners? I'd like to see this screen from a 35i.

Sorry - I just have to throw this in. My 35d is averaging 26 mpg in sport, almost 29 in comfort and 32-ish on the highway (+70mph). The last time I filled it (yep, it was that long ago) cost me 3.59/gal.

Those are about the same numbers I'm getting. I'm also running the Race Chips tune...

And I've never used Eco mode - never seen the use for it....

I sent you a PM regarding your Race Chips tune. I'd appreciate your feedback/advice when you get a chance . Thanks, buddy.

Drove my x35i from Asheville NC to Cincinnati this past weekend (~360 miles). All highway driving in comfort mode. Averaged a speed of 71 mph and gas mileage of 27 mpg. Pretty satisfied with that...

Ok, mine wasn't an X5, but its an X6 with the same N55 engine on a similar car. I kept records:

With about 27k miles on the car, I got a little over 14mpg most of the time (with probably 80/20 city/highway). 20/80 yielded 16. 0/100 yielded about 20.

I get over 32 on highway but still at around 24 in the city. I hope the city numbers improve once my truck passes its "break in" period. Current miles: 1,100.
