One tire gone! T&W protect

Ok 300 miles on the X5 NYC highway BQE. Wife is driving home from a week at her mothers house in CT about a 3 hr drive. I was a little worried she doesn't know much about the car or tech pkgs.

Long story short hits a object pops the tire SOS told her it's fine drive home. Next day I went to my local shop ordered a new tire and tinted the front windows and reflector.

Has anyone purchased a tire&wheel package from BMW or a outside company? A friend told me while having coffee that he bought one and they already replaced 3 tires and a rim on a 6 month old 5 series ?

You can get a road hazard warranty for your tires from Discount Tire. It's not very expensive; like $35 a piece maybe. I got my tire warranty there after I bought my x6. You have to pay it every time you get a new set of tires though.

Personally I just take a chance on my wheels. I've only trashed one wheel in my driving life (let's just say that's a lot of years).

BMW did offer us tire replacement package (~$700 if I recall correctly) and we declined. Just last week I found a screw in one of my tires and after a bit of research and a call to Pirelli I found out that Pirelli offers a road hazard warranty (for no additional cost) with their run flat tires and will provide a replacement tire free of charge for the 1st year and after that you have to pay some portion of the cost based on wear and tear, just google it as their are some other restrictions. We just have to pay the fee to have the tire mounted and balanced (~$70). I feel that BMW should have been more upfront about the fact that this road hazard warranty from the tire manufacturer is already included.

Some things just make too much sense! And detract from the bottom line.

Any idea if Michelin offers something similar to Pirelli's protection?

What percentage tint did you use for the front reflectors? Do you have a close-up photo of the reflectors? I'm curious to see how the edges are done.
Looks good.

Thats an interesting idea on the front reflectors. I don't think the rear ones look too bad, but the fronts are horrible. I'll ask my tint shop when I'm in there about covering those nasty amber reflectors.

The one question I have is how well will that tint hold up to the elements? I ask because tint is usually placed on the inside of the windows. Thoughts?

Yes. Call your dealer ASAP and see if it's not too late to add.

Most of my cars wheel and tire insurance were through BMW directly. This time around I believe it's through Allstate. So if BMW says it too late maybe try Allstate.

I replaced my yellow front reflectors on both my e70 and e71 with clear European reflectors that I bought on eBay and they looked way better. I hope I can get them when I manage to get my hands on an f16.
