BMW Connected App

To use the BMW Connected App on an iPhone 5s, do you need the snap-in-adapter in order for it to work? I cannot get the app to connect to the car utilizing the USB port.

Don't believe they are inter dependant.

(In the UK) you need to have the selected the S6AKA ConnectedDrive Services as a cost option otherwise the app does not work. I have the Connect Drive and the snap-in adapter for my 5s.

Did you select the CD option when you ordered?

I have a US Spec vehicle and believe that the ConnectedDrive is standard. Someone correct me if I am wrong. I have the Enhanced Bluetooth and USB option so I believe I should be covered.

Lucky You! In that case you need to register via the BMW web site for the service then off you go! Just need the VIN number.

I need some help from any of the US military folks in Germany. Do any of you have an iPhone 5s and also have the European Maps installed on your vehicle. If you do, can you get the BMW Connect app to work? I have tried multiple times and it will not connect. Please help!!!! I hate things not working on a brand new vehicle!!!!

Have you contacted BMW Customer Services?

I have done in the past, very helpful, at least in UK.

They can walk you through the steps to resolve issues with CD.

Have you registered for the service?

Is it possible to use the BMW Connected App on a US Spec vehicle in Europe? I can use this in my F10 528i, seems silly that it would not work in the X5. Anyone????

Please contact Connected Services , they are super helpful. Helped me with a detailed explanation with iphone 4 media adapter not showing video on the F15. Was amazed that they gave me a concrete answer. They also helped with BMW connect to activate it.

Anyone have a phone number to English speaking staff? I tried this route but they did not speak English. Also, what I gathered from them was that a SA would have to activate the service. My SA here says it is impossible for a US Spec vehicle in Germany.

This painful! Go to BMW.CO.UK http://www.bmw.co.uk/en/index.html

and check out the 'Owners' Drop Down then click on BMW Connect Drive Services then select Customer WebSite.

There is an option there to contact BMW.

At the risk of repeating myself, have you registered on-line for the service?

I have attempted to register online and it tells me I cannot register online. I have no idea what the problem is. I apologize for this being "painful" but it is "painful" for me as well!

I have the same problem. I tried to register online with VIN and production number and it does not recognize. I am calling the US customer service today so I will let you know what they say @prozak76

You need the 6AK option to be able to use BMW Connected app and other 3rd party BMW-certified apps. BMW Apps should work through the USB port too.
If you do not have the 6AK option we can retrofit BMW Apps in your BMW.

I have all the necessary options. It just is not activated, and I have been told it cannot be activated on a US spec vehicle in Germany.

Just spoke to BMWUSA and the site does not recognize my VIN because I have not registered in the US. Connected app does / will not work until I get back in the US.

Maybe coding will fix some issues. I will find out this weekend.

Frustrating! I guess there is good Lesson's Learnt there for people purchasing vehicles overseas to be imported at a date in the future.

So we just don't get that in Europe? angry with bmw now, they are a German company after all.

Just curious, is there any particular feature or app that's pretty cool to use through this Connected app? I tried connecting my phone and I saw apps such as facebook, twitter, news, etc. I find most of those to be a distraction while driving so is there anything else you can do with this app that's cool?
