Spare tire and spacer questions from a first F15 owner.
Hi guys,
I have a X5 Xdrive 35i M-sport in production line at this moment. as I reading throught X5 forum, I started to think that having a spare tire might be a good idea, since Im planning to change my 20" summer to all-season tires. Since my X5, well, wife's X5 is in the production line, Im thinking it might be little too late to add to my build sheet, so I called local BMW center, to check on the price of spare tire (try to see if I can get the same price as they offered when I order my X5), and the guy in the parts dept told me it is about $369.26 something like that. any better idea than paying that much for a spare from BMW dealer? Also, for spacers... I got 12mm all the way round on my F80 M3, which I can find tons of place sells online. but I can't find much of website selling spacer for F15 X5. I remember I saw some one says the best size for F15 will be 5mm/15mm. any recommanded brands or online shop? and what size lugs do I need for F15? Thank you for help in advance. |

When I had my CTS-V, I was able to find a brand new spare, jack, tire iron, etc. for about $150 delivered from a junk yard. I called my local yard and they had nothing. However, they are all on a parts sharing network and gave me the number of a couple of places that had them listed. Second place I called had it on it's way UPS in 24 hours.

Wheel alone is only $90 Maybe someone can let you know the tire size and you can buy from tire rack. |

Thank you guys. yeah I have checked ebay and amazon. as well as my BMW CA this morning. he told me that he will find out what to do, at the end, if he cant get it to add on to my build, he will order it on other X5, and swap it out, than just charge me $150.

you can find it for slightly less online. buy it, throw in the "basement" of your cargo area and when you're done with the x5 you sell the spare and recoup most of your money.

If you don't mind getting a bottle jack and lug nut wrench from your local parts store, you only need to get the rim and tire set. The $400-$500 set includes a foam holder, iron, and POS jack.

On originalwheels.com the wheel is $75. It isn't new but they warranty their wheels. The tire is a 155/90r18. My local dealer will sell just the wheel and tire for $230 or so which seems steep. I haven't called discount tire but will today to see how much the tire will be.

Thanks for all the info. guys.
I really need to have a spare on X5 or at home. for X5 and my F80. Had a flat on my F80...5:30 in the morning, last year, and I had to wait almost 2 hours, just to have tow truck take me to bmw dealer (which was 3 miles from where I got flat...), had to park the car there are 3 days, til my tire comes in, and got charged for $70 for only 1 tire mounted and balanced, yes!! ONE for $70... |
