I guess the only option is to get them from Europe.

my dealer told me he cannot order using X6 but only X5M as on that one the part is available. I see now other forum members got it in Dakota leather from X6. Mine could (or said so :-) )only bring the M one and that is in Nappa (black in my case). it's still OK as I do have the leather dashboard so it fits well.
the X6 and X5 have the same console, so trims from either of them can be used. |

Just be careful as some members mentioned that the black nappa from the x6 will give you white stitching... as far as i understood, you need the black dakota x6 part to get the black stitching. |

I already got and installed them. The stitching is more gray than white but since I have the alcantara/dakota combination on the seats, that one has the same stitching. So, not bad. Initially I was asking for the alcantara pads from X6, but again...got the NO, can't do from the dealer.

if you're doing a few sets from europe perhaps a group buy to discount the parts may be possible?

I took the knee bolster challenge. It was necessitated, in my opinion, after changing out the trim to carbon fiber, where there are no corresponding center console pieces. Due to availability, I went with the X5M nappa/gray stitching combo. The napa actually works really well with the leather dash, and I'd go as far as to say I actually prefer it even though the seats/armrest are dakota. If I didn't have a leather dash, I'd say X6 dakota would be the obvious choice...but zero regrets on this front. With regards to stitching, I would prefer black...but it's the wife's car, and she loves how the gray provides an accent and pulls from the carbon fiber and requested I leave as-is. I was intending to do the "sharpie" dye you'll find on youtube...pretty easy if you want these pieces and want black stitching. Both attributes are subjective, but I really like how it turned out.
Install is pretty straightforward, but I found the passenger side to be a lot more difficult when installing the knee bolsters. I ended up pulling away the trim below it (also held in by clips) and it gave me just enough room to manipulate and get the bolster in place.

My dealer came back with a EPC screenshot saying something to the effect of: "please provide customer VIN (you need an X6 VIN, I would assume). Parts made to order. Expect long lead time"
I have not trolled around ebay and auto trader to find an X5 with black dakota leather to give him. But that is my plan, just to see if it works.

just snag any VIN from any X6 listed for sale. they're not going to keep it on file or ask you to show registration.
