if you body match the unpainted portion of the rocker panel that runs below the side steps it will blend much better however my experience with running boards is that they're really not worth it. especially if you live in an area that has snow or if you drive on dirt roads. all of the snow, salt, mud, etc accumulates on on the step or under it and then when you step out it gets on the back of your pant leg unless you also you use the step but if you're tall the step makes getting out of the vehicle awkward. the x5 isn't very tall to begin with and the step doesn't make it any lower it just extends a portion of the body out.
