UK X5 Meet

So now that those people in the UK have taken delivery of their new X5s (barring myself), I think it is appropriate to have a meet with new and old forum members.
The Spring weather has finally arrived and this is possibly a good time to consider a date and venue.
So can we have some collective suggestions please
I will start with the weekend of 8th or 9th May in Oxford?
Keep them coming.
Cheers

Sounds good to me apart from the date....?

8th/9th May is not a weekend

6th/7th May is though.

I could do 6th, but probably not 7th, unless it was a late afternoon meet on 7th.

Any idea whereabouts in Oxford area? I'm guessing not actually in Oxford itself given how car unfriendly the place is!

The Welcome Break services at J8a of the M40 would seem the logical place, parking and somewhere to grab a coffee/drink/snack etc.

Sorry I was looking at the month of April
Or we could do the following weekend 13/14th May?
Sunday is a better day for me?
We need to meet somewhere central in the country as I know there are some members West and North of the country.
Any car shows we could arrange a meet?

We do have a rolling road day booked for 13 May in Farnborough, Hants. Collection of 335/340/M3/X5....

Otherwise, I'm up for a meet sometime...

I'm up for a meet but the weekend of 6/7th is not possible and 13/14th May is tricky. I don't mind travelling a bit but lets see the interest first

I'm definitely up for a meet but like sak83, these two weekends are problematic.

MarkG_M50d, where and what time is the Farnborough Rolling Road Day taking place on the 13th?

People put their souped up cars on a rolling road to see what torque and BHP they are pushing out. Not sure I want my brand new car to be dyno-tested but it could be interesting as I have never seen this done before.

If you've never seen it before, then yes pop down, its a good banter session and social thing as well.
Might be some mental mapped M4's etc trying to climb off Charlie's rollers

Just so you know your X5 will/has gone through a more vigorous torture than a dyno-run at the factory prior to leaving final inspections.

Hi
Yes up for meeting up. Not 6/7May - London Motorshow, or back end of May. But last 2 weeks April / mid May OK.
Warwick / Leicester / Donington / Central = more likely to sneak away undetected at a weekend

I'll dig out the list of attendees and post up over the next few days - I'm away from home at the moment.

Basically all been said above, Surrey Rolling Road day, 15 or so signed up so far, mostly BMWs - 640d, M3 CP, heavily upgraded 335d, my 50d....

Starting with breakfast around the corner then at Charlie's for 9. Maybe some lunch and coding afterwards too.

We have a rate of £35 per car, need to pay a deposit of £15 to secure that price (all others have PayPal'd me and will pay the balance on the day).

If anyone wants to join the running list, drop me a PM. Anyone wanting to come and watch is very welcome.

So anyone wanting to join in with the rolling road day, here is the current list of attendees:

Name: Surrey RR (version 1).jpg
Views: 399
Size: 233.5 KB

Details for the day (13 May 2017):

Surrey Rolling Road Ltd
Unit 34
Invincible Road
Farnborough
Hants
GU14 7QU

Location:
https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/...6!4d-0.7642988

Attachment 1564412

Hotels:
Premier Inn Farnborough West (Southwood)
Premier Inn Aldershot
Village Hotel Farnborough
Aviator by Tag

Be aware:
Premier Inn Farnborough Town Centre - no parking!
Falcon Hotel - cheap deals but truly awful

On the morning:
We can meet for breakfast if people arrive early/have time:
Premier Inn (Southwood) does a fairly decent 'Brewers Fayre' for £8.99
Starbucks at the Village
Morrisons is close and better value
ASDA - you're on your own, I am not going to ASDA
Bridge Road Cafe - parking can be tight
McDonalds... meh - bit there are a couple

If you would like to join, a deposit of £15 is payable to me via Paypal or transfer - this is to secure the lower price of £35 for over 15 cars. The balance of £20 can be paid to Charlie on the day by cash or card.

Hi Mark,
What exactly does this comprise of as I have not been to one of these before
The date for me is slightly unsure as I may have something on that day but it would be good to meet up.

If not then I think we need to get a date in the diary for more of us UK southerners (and beyond) to meet up. I think it would be best to do this at a car event and make a day of it.
Does anyone know of any car events coming up leading up to the summer that is central to all of us?
It would be great to know who is up for a meet so that we can confirm numbers
Hope to meet up with you guys (and girls?) soon!
G

Sorry not been on here for some time...

For the rolling road day we all hang around chatting, each car goes on the rollers for 3 runs and you get a graph of power/torque output. Good to compare each model.

Then we may head off for coffee, bit of lunch or some coding if people want that. All relaxed, kids welcome (I'll likely have my nephew with me).

Otherwise there may be an EVO track evening in July - the X5 is a hoot on the track!!
