Hope so. There is a "3" but it is for diesel only.

Initial feedback
Very slight increase in sound. Hard to hear over my exhaust and Downpipe's in the cabin

Increased throttle response. Around 40 degrees outside and our cars love the cold and think the intake will shine in this cold temps

No sure if I can feel any power difference. Butt dyno feels something but that just might be better throttle response.

Running race chip ultimate at setting three and car is pretty quick. 10 hp increase would be difficult to feel

All in all pretty happy beside I was looking for more sound. Might end up selling it and ponying up for MSR intake when done. It will be almost triple the price but that sound....

If you are interested let me know. Looks like wait times are still backed up
You should try driving with the Dinan cover off the car to see if it gets you the sound that you want. Since you are open to running a completely open to the element intake anyway this could be accomplished by removing the cover and not run into water issues

You are correct. Think they are letters. But man are they small.thinking about it I might be 4 ticks up.

Taking the cover off would probably cause a cel and defeat the pupose since it's nOw pulling hot air

The stock air system is very well designed. Cold air channels directly to the filters with little path and resistance.

The dinan concept makes sense

I didn't try out Stage 1, I've had Stage 2 with intakes installed since before the release. Power delivery is smooth and noticeable at all speeds. What I like most, is the setup doesn't get half bad MPG when driven casually. I run it in Sport and trans on auto the thing gets 14.5mpg all around. Which makes daily driving nice, it becomes very fast with a click of the M1 or M2 setting and the entire experience is different. MPG isn't great, but for a twin turbo powered V8 making 700hp+, I'm fine with that. Freeway is probably the most noticeable, it just pulls hard and has seemingly no end of power.

How involved or difficult is the install? Is it a straightforward diy?

Follow up review after some miles on the car. Dme has adjusted and the car def feels more powerful. Don't want to go into outlandish claims and I haven't or will not dyno the car but the car is noticeable faster. Interesting is the intake noise has gotten louder. Nothing like a open intake system but with my valves closed the car is louder in a good way.

The intake is simple design but effective. Was looking at my removed stock filters and the front side of the filter was completely dirty where the back was almost spotless. The raised lid of the intake allows air to flow directly in the front of the new filters and over where the larger filter has access to fresh air and in the back.

Great work dinan. Im still interested to see the design of the MSR when it's released in the next coming weeks and asses if I will sell the dinan and get the MSR. Have a feeling that I will have to cut some parts to fit the MSR which I do. Not want.

If anyone else has installed their intake can you please PM. Have a question

My stage 2 dinantronics and intake go on Wednesday (coming from stage 1) and I can't wait. These cars put down some serious power. Love how subtle but aggressive they are.

Finally got my Dinan intake for my X5M and couldn't be more pleased with it. Simple 15min install which fit just like the oem piece. Slight gain in sound and my butt dyno feels something (maybe just my wallet being lighter lol) and i'm very happy with it.

Big thanks for Evan over at Tischer for hooking it up. Can't say enough good things about him and his crew.

Alan

I definitely have to agree with you on the drop. The car feels like it needs it even with the stock power. I'm definitely going to have to go with a stage 2 and intake after I get the KW's installed. Love them on my other car! Not sure if springs on the X6M would feel anything like when I had H&R's on my M6 before switching to the KW's but the extra cost was definitely worth it for a better feel and handling on and off the track!

Its really exciting knowing that you don't need much to pull a lot more power out of these cars with just a tune. I only wish my V10 M6 could do the same still need a tune after all the mods I've done so far and want to possibly switch to your intake different from what I have already installed for that car as well if you guys still have the intakes for the S85 to keep up the consistency with all my other Dinan mods. Does your tune for the s85's account for needing CEL delete after doing headers? I think the car is running really rich with the AFR's possibly being off with stock tune and the extra horrible smell haha. Love what I'm hearing about your tunes and intake will definitely be inquiring about them once I get my suspension sorted out and down pipes on the X6M.

Dinan Intake (Alan)

Alan,

Do you have the Stage 2 Software installed? Can you install the intake without any Software Stage 1 or 2?

Thanks

Yes, you can.
Intake itself doesn't require any tunes.
But of course it is best with the tunes since the air intake will help the engine to breath easier.

Upgraded mine to stage 2 with intake

I have had the stage 1 since it was available and pleasantly pleased on a daily basis. The Akrapovic exhaust sings with this tune. Got the intake back in January and with it the stage 2 and there is a noticeable increase in induction noise and a slight increase in midrange over my BMC filters. It looks great and compliments the upgrades I already had. Enjoy and feel free to PM me with any questions.

Thanks for the info. I have been considering this but Ive heard much conflicting info regarding the actual benefits.

Do you think the uptick in induction noise would still be there without the tune?? Or without the tune do you think the mod would be more cosmetic than anything else?

Induction sound will be present with or without the tune. With or without the tune the lid will provide less than 10 hp so it is a primarily cosmetic mod either way with a secondary acoustic gain and a tertiary power gain. Overall a nice mod.
