I just picked up the nanoskin mitt too from seeing it discussed here. I hate clay bar as its a mess.

Does the mit not just spread dirt and cause paint swirls with picked up grit?

I like clay because I find it easy to remove debris and toss.

Mine should be here in a few days and ill report back. My X5 is black so swirls should be easy to spot. But the menzerno polish before I apply the powerlock sealant should remove any swirling.

I'd rather spend my time layering wax coats ontop of the powerlock with PS 21S then spend too much time claying, so it looks like the mitt should cut the decontaminating process down by 2/3 thirds. SUV's are big suckers anyway and I have two to do each time. Anything to save time (if it works) is OK by me

I think i'm getting too old. I can barely keep up with automatic wash, let alone hand washing this thing.

I used this and it works fantastic! Wash the car prior, pick up some of their detailers spray and wipe away. So much better than a clay bar, even on my Malbec Black Infiniti (no swirls).

I use detailing spray as lubricant for clay.

Do you rinse mit before switching areas?

I've always used quick detailing spray for lube when claybarring.
But I just ordered this lube in the link.

I have a fear the detailing spray leaves a shine behind and I don't want it to potentially interfere with the polish step and then the sealer step plus the carnuba wax finish.

Its cheap enough: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

No, the instructions say to wash the car well ahead of time so I wasn't worried about a build up. I did two cars with it, our X5 and the Infiniti.

Normally I would do this every two to three washes. This time I went with ceramic coating, and water just beads right off.

I have never had issue, but I also wipe dry with microfiber.

So my detailing supplies came a few days ago.

Regarding my hood protector . . .
A clear bra film was installed by a tint shop on 6/22/17 going back about 13 inches from the nose.

Should I avoid getting any detailing products on this film?
I plan to:
.1 first use a claybar mitt on the whole X5
.2 Menzerna medium cut polish
.3 Menzerna super polish
.4 Power Lock Plus polymer sealant
.5 A topper of PS21S Concours carnauba paste wax.

Are there any of those products above that I should avoid getting onto the clear bra film?

thx

I wouldn't use any polish on the clear film but clay and wax/sealant are perfectly safe. I put wax on my clear bra.

Ok great, thx for that quick response.

I know if i called the tint shop, for warranty purposes of their bra they would say dont use or put "anything" on the film.

But I was on the same thinking as your comments.
Claybar> sealant> wax.

My installer actually told me to wax the clear bra asap.

had my X5 applied with the ceramic pro treatment. I really didn't notice the difference until the wife wrecked the bumper and had it replaced. With the bumper untreated I can definitely tell the difference between ceramic pro applied and not. With the treatment there is a high gloss shine to it and since this is the wife's daily car it makes it super easy to wash. Had the front windows and rims treated as well.

Just checked out the Eagle One mitt linked to above at Amazon. In the US it's going for $18 + free shipping while in Canada (amazon.ca) it costs $163 + shipping!

https://www.amazon.ca/Eagle-One-8507...gle+One+850789

Ridiculous!...out of principle I will not pay this. Even $63 for the nano skin seems expensive.

Back to the clay for me! My neighbour asked me when I got a new car after a recent clean, clay and wax

What do you use for the liquid medium? Couldn't tell what the guy used in that video you posted below.

And do you directly apply a sealant wax once you've used the mitt and wiped down/ dried the car?

With a clay bar, I use diluted detailing spray. Approximately 80/20 water/detail spray.

Holy Crap!!! Did you try non-Canadian Amazon and plug in your shipping address? How about Pep-Boys or Autozone online stores?

Thanks for that link. Some seriously cool stuff on your ride!

So if I wasn't going to use the optimum gloss coat, could I just apply some good quality wax or quick detailed directly after the nanoskin scrub treatment?
