Failed attempt to download software update

Dear forum!

This is my first post after a good while of lurking and perusing before buying an X5 25d last week. So far we're very happy with the car!

I'm trying to update the iDrive/NBT software, however I'm not able to download the latest version! Over the past few days I've been getting the same error message off of BMW's update site, after entering my VIN and hitting "Search for update": An error has occurred. Please try again later.

Now, does anyone have any idea how I can download this file?

I've e-mailed the national support address on their site, but they have yet to provide me an answer. Thanks :-)

That website is old, it will not provide you the latest software, which by the way is only for the Bluetooth module.

If you want the latest software for all the car modules you need to go to the dealer.

Thanks, that's clarifying! I will check with the dealer if they are able to bring the software up to date.

I was thinking that the older software version was the cause for the Connecteddrive Android app not working properly on my phone, but that might not be the case. The car shows up, but I'm not able to control the heater/ventilation or anything else.

You need Connecteddrive active subscription for that.

I believe there is one.. but I will double check. ATM it appears the Connecteddrive web portal is unresponsive to login attempts.

After a long number of attempts at downloading the file only to receive the aforementioned error message, lo and behold, the file was suddenly available for download today. No idea what happened. BMW never answered my e-mail. Now heading to update the software to see if that can improve the connectivity in any fashion.

Hi. I have a question about software update. I have CarPlay and Navi activated by FSC codes by workshop. In navi options VIN number is different to mine. If I will update soft from BMW website for my VIN, will it remove Navigation and CarPlay?

Hope to fix issue between iOS 13 and BMW, when i can not select tracks to play.

No since the user updates are only for the BT module version. Has nothing to do with rest of it.
