what is "auxiliary trasmission"?

Just wrote what they put on the work order. I assume it's the transfer case itself.

Ah forgot to update you all on this. I got it fixed a while ago but forget what the diagnosis repair was. I'll check the paper someday.

This is on the dealership service maintenance papers:

"FAULTS 14001, 140010, 140701, 140710 FOR CYLINDER 7 MISFIRE PRESENT. REMOVED IGNITION COIL 7 AND SPARK PLUGS. FOUND SPARK PLUG DRY AND SLIGHTLY FOULED."

In search for answers, I came across this from a Google search:

"The most likely cause is worn valve guide seals and/or guides, but worn rings and cylinders can also allow oil to enter the combustion chamber. Replacing the spark plug will temporarily cure the misfire problem, but, until the oil consumption problem is fixed, the engine will continue to foul plugs."

I know the 50i eats up oil like no other. Is there a relationship between this and spark plugs drying up?

This confirms my suspicion that it's in fact a misfire (spark plug/coil) issue that is causing tugging/twitching and not a transmission related thing (at least half of cases)

I getting what feels like a kick in the rear. Seems to happen under light acceleration around 2 to 3 gear.
Happened a couple times yesterday and worse today when I first started up and drove off.
Misfire perhaps? I do put in the cheap gas. Has that caught up with me now? Lol

I had a post on here about my vehicle shudder at part throttle that was progressively getting worse. I had it almost since I had the vehicle but they never found out what the cause was because it never threw out a code and was hard to duplicate. I took the vehicle in the other day because of a scheduled brake fluid change and mentioned this again. When I picked up the vehicle, they told me that there is a bulletin out for this issue SIB 12 23 16 (.4) in which they performed a vehicle coding and programming for the fix. FINALLY!!!!

Then someone said that they couldn't find the SIB so I looked again:

I re-read my service write up and that's the correct SIB 12 23 16 0 .90

Hope this helps.
I had this on a Honda Pilot (2012) and it got so bad I sold it. Honda did a bunch of stuff to try to fix it... loosened the engine and tranny mounts - drive it around a bit - and re-torque them, replaced the fluid 3 times, reprogramming, to name three. I suspect it had the same issue as described in this SIB. Glad you got it fixed.

I can feel a slight shudder in my 2014 X5, but it's intermittent and not repeatable. Only really happens when slightly letting off the throttle.

I have something that feels like old fashioned "wheel hop" (but milder) during hard acceleration when I get on it.

Why would you not use premium gas on a BMW?

Any new updates?

Mine is tugging, too. When it's on 2nd(10-15mph) or 3rd(15-20mph) gear(depends on driving mode), I noticed it always chooses to downshift rather than stay in the higher gear. Sometimes it feels like the manual car when you apply the gas paddle a little bit, it will slow down a bit(with rpm going up) and then accelerate. I had to keep my foot on the gas paddle, or it felt like somebody dragging me back...

Sometimes, I don't even need to apply the brake to stop when I approach a traffic light with my speed at 20mph or 15mph, it will automatically drop down to 5mph and hold there.

Is that because x5 is too heavy to maintain the speed?

These are BMW's, not Hondas. If you can't afford the gas, you should absolutely not be driving a BMW or any other performance vehicle.
