new car phenomenon
Since I've gotten my X5, I've been seeing a lot of X5 F15 on the street, it's like all a sudden everybody is having the same car, and not to mention some soccer mom and non enthusiast driving the same car (sometimes with m sport) .
Is this car really common or it's just me noticing too much? It really makes me wanna mod the car more, lol

If you live in an urban area like NYC, there are tons of X5's as well as ML's, MDX's and RX's.
Midsize luxury SUVs are very popular. You're probably noticing the other cars more now since you have a X5. My wife is not into cars but started noticing other BMWs when we got our 5 series. Now she'll notice some BMW SUVs also. She was the same way when we had Infinitis. I'm sure your car looks different enough, but I'm with you. I hated how many 5 series I saw so I kept modding my car to make it unique |

I'm like you guys and want a unique looking X5 because... yeah over here there are tons of X5's.. but most are either Xline or Luxury Line.. so that helps my car look a little bit different. Now that I have M performance parts on the X5, I get a lot of attention that sort of makes me feel nervous...

From a real shrink:
"Selective attention" kicks in when you’re struck by a new "something", which can be a word, thing, or idea; after that, you unconsciously keep an eye out for it, and as a result find it surprisingly often. The second process, "Confirmation bias" reassures you that each sighting is further proof of your impression that the thing has gained sudden omnipresence. Hope this helps.... ))))

An undercover cop came up to me once in Brooklyn while I was picking up a drink at the gas station and says "hey. nice car. I saw you in the Manhattan a few weeks ago" Another cop pulls up behind me as I'm waiting in the car for someone. I was sure he was going to get me for idling or tints but he told me he had to U-turn to see what kind of 5 series it was. Asked about my exhaust and wheels lol My wife told me someone was bound to steal my car lol Last edited by twelve535i; 10-18-2015 at 10:48 PM.. |

The thing is most people who have the X5 would probably wouldn't add the front lip or any of the M performance parts... so the look is definitely unique and attracts a lot of attention. I'm not sure if I am comfortable with that or not. The only other X5 with the front lip or M performance parts I've seen on the road is Alan's X5... All other X5's I've seen so far are pretty much stock.

you guys must be in a car lover area which people actually do notice these goodies on your car. So far I only get one looker from a parking lot who actually take a picture of my car while i'm parking, which can be a good thing in the sense of safety.

Are you serious when you say teacherS? Sounds like your kid has some really cool teachers, and they might possibly a member here too

Even though I love my Mineral White X5 M-Sport, part of me wishes I had gone with a different colour. It seems the local dealers only sell these in Mineral White or Black Sapphire. With that said, some sublte changes I made seem to make mine stand out (black grills, open grilles, M50D fins, de-badged, and black painted exhaust tips).

I'm fine with no line X5s but what the hell was BMW doing with the standard 18" wheels. I know they can make money selling upgrades but come on! 18s are standard on a 535i, a much smaller car. Thankfully they made 19's standard this year.

Hope you can get rid of your 5 soon and get a F15. I think you're going to love it. I was scrolling through pics of my f10 yesterday and I do miss it a little |

It's shocking the difference between 19s and 20s. I look at all the X5s with 451s and 469s and just drool.
