Wrap is your best friend. Replacing wouldn't be fun, labor wise and cost wise.

You can wrap that chrome trim around the Windows?

Mainly I wonder if I can ask for it at build time. I don't see why not truthfully.

Yes.
Here is the picture of my 650GC door handle that I just wrapped yesterday.
It is known for people to wrap their chrome trim instead of replacing them.

All depends on where your order is in the process. It's not like you can just call someone on the phone and have them find your car on the line and replace the trim.
If it's too late to change your build, just have it wrapped by a pro. Search for the thread by Trojanlaw and you'll be convinced.
Yes, you can replace the trim... if you want to spend the money.

I'm thinking about doing this to my X5 trunk emblem... I was originally going to plasti-dip it but the wrap might look better. I wonder how hard it would be though on a badge..

Ben,

Would something like this work?
http://www.amazon.com/3M-GLOSS-Black...=3M+1080+vinyl

Ben,

I've never wrapped before... how difficult would it be for someone with no experience?
TIA!

Wrapping a trunk badge would be pretty difficult for someone that hasn't wrapped before. This is coming from someone that wrapped wrapped two full cars. There's too many 3 dimensional bends to wrap a badge cleanly. Plastidip with the glossifier is probably your best option.

I'd definitely go the Plastidip route with the rear badge. There's way too many creases and small corners to try and wrap a badge successfully. You can buy black badges online too if you're looking for an even easier route. My vote is to de-badge the thing!

@Kzang it is harder on the badge since it is 3 dimensional as Alan mentioned.
Plastidip is the best way. But one thing I dislike about plastidip, it attract dust and dirt.
Best bet get the painted one or debadge it.
I for the first time debagde my car, the 650GC.
I was thinking to debagde the X5, but it doesn't looks right with the sides badge. And the I personally don't like the sides without badge.

Can't seem to find a Gloss Black X5 badge for the F15 on Amazon or Ebay, and iND is too damn expensive I have the sides Xdrive 35i badge removed and I may just debadge the X5 as well...

If you don't want gloss black, Trimbrite is good since it comes in a 1 3/8" width, making it perfect for trim wrapping. I used it to wrap the trim on my other car and it's held up just fine over 5yrs+.
PM me if you want to see the install/results and I'll send you a link to my post on another forum.

I'm with you on the debadged look.. but sometimes badges look great too I'm digging the grey with black gloss theme. I'm trying to go for this style of look on my X5..
