2015 X5 50i with VRSF DPs and stock exhaust

Thought id post up... I havent decided if I'm going to cut out the resonators and do mufflers or not, but here's a stock X5 other than ESS flash tune, X5M filters and VRSF catless downpipes. Turbo lag is pretty much gone with them, fitment was 99% with no rubbing or rattles (one downstream O2 location was about 1/4 inch off and I had to massage the heat shield a bit) and install took about 2 hours total with the largest headache being getting the driver side factory down pipe out. I bought these from Mike at X-PH and as usual, fantastic pricing and quick delivery! I will update more as I get some time to drive them and see if I can snap a 0-100 video.

Enjoy!

I'd imagine they do, I only did catless because I wanted the sound increase with something easily changeable, where as if I start cutting and pasting the exhaust, it's more difficult and expensive to keep going back and forth. I may try mufflers next, or cutting out the resonators and installing an x pipe, haven't decided.

Update after a few days of driving... I wont say the power increase is day and night, but ive been driving around in sport mode for fun (mostly because I like the exhaust rumble now) and the throttle response is just instant, where as before it would lag briefly before the turbos hit. I guess after a flash tune, any other mod is pretty much pale in comparison!

Thanks for the info. Also, I'm sure if you were to go up in boost and power it would make a larger difference! Have you run your X5 at the track at all before the downpipes?

How's the smell? Contemplating a down pipe but hate the smell of most exhausts with catless pipes.

Not my car but I’m willing to bet my car that the smell is pretty noticeable.

I have a flash tune, the limit at this point is octane, not really much more I can do on 91. I did toss a few gallons of e85 in there yesterday and it's a noticeable gain since the ess tune will add timing for octane, but haven't been to the track. Might go soon as I believe it just opened back up for Friday night drags

It stinks... nature of the beast. If you're at a light with your windows down, you're going to smell it... same with in the garage or letting it idle and standing near by. I've had performance cars since I was 16 so I'm used to it, but if I had kids or a wife that drove it often, I would have opted for cats for sure... my goal was sound though and I knew having cats wouldn't have made a difference, but I didn't want the drone associated with aftermarket mufflers and resonator removal, so I'm happy with my choice as all the boxes were checked! My 435i with no cat really wasn't noticeable, but I had a cobra, two vettes, 4 camaros, a srt8 and multiple trucks without cats and they all brought tears to your eyes if you're near the exhaust.

Man my 335 has HFC and I can even smell that. Guess I'm just sensitive.

@FenixMike
Hey buddy, how is your exhaust setup? I also have an X5 50i stock and i want the exhaust a little bit loudder, just a little bit, not too much. Cuz i have a F30 328i with catless downpipe, straightpipe, muffler delete, bm3 tune and it is crazy loud when cold start.
